Earth (also known as Terra or Sol III) was a terrestrial planet located in the Milky Way galaxy. It was the third planet from its star, the Sun , and it was the only known planet to harbor life in the Sol Solar System .
Earth was a diverse and varied world, with a wide range of ecosystems and environments. It was home to millions of species of plants and animals, many of which were found nowhere else in the universe. The planet's atmosphere was composed of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and trace amounts of other gases, and it was protected by a magnetic field that shielded it from harmful solar radiation.
