Atlantean Ascendancy

Originally hailing from the lost island of Atlantis, the Ascendency is a group of radicals who believe that they should rule the world. As Atlantis is a country ruled by high magic, no inhabitant was unaware of at least basic spells before Atlantis returned to Earth. When it did, a faction of the Atlantean Conclave immediately believed that since they had achieved greater heights of knowledge and were the oldest single government on Earth, they should be allowed to rule the world. When the Conclave disagreed with them, a rather large segment of Atlantean society turned away and formed the Ascendency. These arrogant mages are known to cause issues across the world, using magical abilities that can mimic or surpass technology when needed. They claim their magic was given to them by the god Thoth.
Unlike many villainous organizations, the Ascendency does try to keep collateral damage to a minimum, but they are no less dangerous because of this.
