Tague Event

The Tague Event was the most intense geomagnetic storm in the Sol System's recorded history, peaking on 23-24 December 2224.

Effects

The Tague Event caused the destruction of Earth's power grid and widespread environmental disaster. Within 18 hours, Kessler Syndrome occured in Earth's orbit under poorly understood circumstances, destroying all of Earth's orbital infrastructure.
Cascading effects on earth lead to societal collapse on Earth, and the end of the Global Union. Space access became impossible for decades, and the combined catastrophe began a period of technological stagnation that lasted for centuries. Earth's prominence in human affairs decreased markedly, leading to the rise of Mars and Luna.
