Scope

The motivation behind building Starforged

Our motivation for building this world is to have a fun science fiction playground in which we can run our cooperative game. We both love science fiction and science fantasy, and we also both love character-driven dramas. Our game of Starforged is a chance for us to indulge in all of the above together.

The goal of the project

We want to build a world and a story that is deep in scope, rich in lore, and complex in terms of connections and characters. The heroes of our game are heroic in more than just the classical sense, and they also are allowed to grow and evolve, as we discover their backstories, drives, and destinies with the audience along the way.

Starforged's Unique Selling point

Perhaps the most special aspect of our world is that it's built by not one but two experienced world builders, who are both the players and the storytellers thanks to the format of the cooperative game setup. With both of us creating and telling the story together, we get a more blended set of ideas than we would if one of us were the GM and the other was the player. This world is truly the melding of our styles.

Theme

Genre

Our world is a science fiction/science fantasy game. Magic exists but it isn't considered common. AI and advanced technology are common. The universe is massive and open for exploration.

Reader Tone

The tone of our world exists between dark and bright, in a nice pocket that we'd like to think carries with it a great deal of wonder. Our characters are on a mission with deeply personal and also broadly galactic ramifications, but they also are two extremely curious individuals who can't resist the opportunity to explore the unknown and uncover new mysteries.   Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, and Star Trek are all definitely inspirations in our world, but so are properties like Avatar the Last Airbender and the new She-Ra.
