17 - Wish Upon A Wandering Star

General Summary

15th, The Melting, 2083 EC   The crew escaped the Sibriex - but at a cost. Romain Algernon was left behind, Mitch suffered a form of Flesh Warping that left their arms as 5ft tentacles, and Erchyll resorted to using a wish spell to escape.   The Sibriex followed the crew through the inner passages of Arethusa. The Arethusan Guard moved to defend the castle while the crew went to meet with the King and Queen. After hearing about the Demon and that Sehssahtish had survived, Lady Avrethi decided that it was safest to move out immediately.   Lady Avrethi and 15 soldiers would travel aboard the Kren'Sar to Lirimidium, while Pedrin would travel to Lirimidium via the portal nexus.   The Queen's plan was discussed once the Kren'Sar had left the city. Mitch negotiated for Lirimidium itself as reward for helping, while Shokizu was offered the island of Astafall Tear for killing Sehssahtish. (Check out Astafall on the map - it's the island east of Akinlor and it's very, very big.)   THE PLAN  
  • Lady Avrethi wants control of the Wandering Star. This is her plan to gain such control, and the Kren'Sar's involvement.
 
  • Before the 20th, the King will lead a team through the Nexus Portals from Arethusa to Lirimidium. They will remain hidden in the depths of Lirimidium near the waist of the great statue until the 20th. This is team Stone.
 
  • On the 20th, the Kren'Sar with Lady Avrethi aboard, must be in the skies near Lirimidium. The Kren'Sar will be supported by 3 Akinlorian Warships. This is team Scale.
 
  • When the Wandering Star draws near to the city, team Scale will alert team Stone.
 
  • The King will perform the appropriate ritual while touching the part of the statue which is exposed within the portal chamber. This will activate the statue, but close the Nexus Portals.
 
  • Once activated, the statue will send the Orb from its hand in to Wildspace, backwards in time. The Temporal energy released from this will weaken the shell of the Wandering Star, priming it. The star should halt in the sky above Lirimidium at this point.
 
  • As soon as this happens, the Kren'Sar must move relatively close to the Wandering Star and Lady Avrethi will perform the ritual of domination on the star. This will take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, and the Kren'Sar must remain within a certain radius of the star. Lady Avrethi must be protected from interference until the ritual is complete. Facilitating the ritual and protecting the Queen is the Kren'Sar's primary role.
 
  • During the ritual, a small team aboard Fang will descend to the city and collect Team Stone and then return to the Kren'Sar. It is planned to leave an anchor stone aboard the Kren'Sar to make Fang's return trip easier.
 
  • Once Lady Avrethi has completed the ritual, the Kren'Sar and other ships can make their escape.
  EXPECTED COMPLICATIONS:   Resistance from Lirimidium. If not initially (due to the Kren'Sar's reputation and the Akinlorian Warships), Lirimidium is sure to try and intervene as soon as the statue is activted. Moving too close to the city itself will put ships at risk of the city's defenses. Team Scale will surely be out-numbered if Lirimidium deploys airships in retalliation - although every ship from Akinlor is worth at least two of Lirimidium's ships, being much larger and built for war.   Complications for Team Stone. Whether the portal chamber is discovered, or it becomes too dangerous for Fang to approach the city, there is a chance that things will not go smoothly for Team Stone. As long as they manage to activate the statue, the plan can continue. If they are prevented from activating the statue, members from team Scale will have to do so. The statue can be activated from the waist where it is exposed in the portal chamber or, failing this, the hand which is exposed at the top of the city in Plaza Velshar.   Interference from Sehssahtish. She has made her intentions to control the star known she surely has a plan of her own.   If something happens to the Queen and she is unable to complete the ritual, the King should be the one to finish it. He will be able to pick up the ritual where she left off - inciting the ritual is difficult, but completing it merely takes conviction and time.     RESOURCES AVAILABLE  
  • The Kren'Sar. Probably the fastest ship that will be present. Roody has also restored functionality to the Helm. Check Kren'Sar page for details.
 
  • Fang. Practically, Fang will be able to teleport once during the mission. It can teleport within a short distance of either of the two Anchor Stones. Deciding where to keep the Anchor Stones will be important. Fang will be one of the smaller ships present, with limited offensive capabilities. However, it is a capable vessel for boarding other ships.
 
  • 3x Akinlorian Warships. Large, armoured, powerful but slow. They will be able to soak up damage and will be useful to intercepts any craft heading for the Kren'Sar.
 
  • Wyvern Squad. Fast and agile. Will not be able to endure direct fire, but will be able to decimate crews, individuals and other creatures.
 
  • Sindril's Bomb. I don't know what you can use this for, but you have it!
 
  • Don't forget to review any items and potions you might have.
