Venator Class Star Destroyer

The Venator Class Star Destroyer was used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. During the Clone Wars most Venator class ships served as the command ships of Jedi Masters or Jedi Knights. As a necessity many were retired at the end of the Clone Wars as their loyalty to the Empire could not be counted on with their prior association with the Jedi. Still a few remain in Imperial Service, mostly out of need and are used in far flung systems seldom visited by the Jedi.

The ship has huge hangars compared to the more modern Victory and Imperial Star Destroyers. These large hangars though also are a natural weak point in the design. Although the shielding is equivalent to that of a Victory Star Destroyer her hull strength is only about a third of that of a Victory.
