Heroy

Heroy is a bright blue water world with moderate polar caps and wispy clouds moving across its surface. It is a satellite of Heroy-IV and is tidally locked, creating long days and nights illuminated by the glow of the atmosphere from large planet.

Surface

The surface of Heroy is covered in a single ocean that encircles the planet. Small islands rise from the ocean at random intervals. Many of these are long archipelagos with dozens of islets scattered over a hundred kilometers. The surface weather is mild and consistant. Equatorial heat causes daily rain showers that stretch from the equators to the poles. The sea bottom is uniform, averaging 500 to 1000 meters in depth with some local variations.
The flora and fauna on the islands is tropical near the equator and temperate in the northern zones. Islands near the poles contain boreal forests. The majority of land dwelling fauna is amphibious or avian.
Each of the islands is populated by a resort, each working to distinguish itself as different from the others. These can vary between long stretches of connected facilities or large facilities concentrated on one or two islets. 

Population

The population of the world is, primarily, transient. The world is oriented to cater to a large number of tourists that vary in income level. While the visitor population varies greatly the support population also varies. Local workers, supporting the tourist industry, change positions or leave the planet on a regular basis.
The local population that calls the planet home numbers under 1,500 and makes their home on one of the larger islands.
There is also a percentage of the population that travels on several large ocean liners that move about on the surface, travelling from one resort to another, often on trips to encircle the planet.

Industry

Tourism is the industry of the world. Luxury services of all types can be found on the planet, often concentrated by a specific type (gambling, spa, relaxation, entertainment, family).

Culture

Due to the transient nature of the majority of the population the culture of the planet is almost non-existent. The native population exist in solitude, living a life dedicated to the family and general subsistence.
There is a thriving black market on the planet, dedicated to difficult to acquire, pleasure-oriented, goods.

History

For centuries the planet was ignored. As it has no natural resources there was no incentive to settle. As populations grew in the sector some entrepreneurs built the first resort and began advertising across the sector. They were a hit and additional resorts began to arise.

Damages

Conflict within the sector has not been kind to Heroy. It lies in the neutral zone between the north and the south. This has resulted in both sides attempting to establish naval presence in the system. Encounters between these forces have occasionally resulted in combat on the surface. Several resorts have been damaged and one of the ocean liners was sunk. Attempts are being made to raise the vessel and make it sea-worthy again.
