Dalicron
View from Orbit
Dalicron is a lush blue and green orb with wispy white clouds swirling across its surface. Moderate size polar caps reflect bright white light. On the night side the capital and several large cities can be seen as sparkling clusters in the darkness. In orbit around the planet are two moons, one large moon close to the planet and a smaller one in a far orbit. Lights of a small settlement can be seen on the airless moon. Between the moon and the planet orbits several spacestations as well as a number of transfer stations. Small and large starships can be seen moving about between planet and stations.Surface
The surface of Dalicron is lush and temperate with extensive plains and forests dominating the terrain. Occassional storms circulate across the planet providing much needed rain to the abundant agriculture that surrounds the capital and other cities. Near the equator can be found dense and humid jungles that remain, for the most part, scanned but unexplored.Population
The population of Dalicron lives in settlements and cities of all sizes. It's species makeup is primarily human as the Galactic Empire tended to favor non-humans. There are no non-humans in the government heirarchy. Nor are there many non-human industries on the planet that have contracts with the government, an effort the Grand Marshal has been avidly pushing since he came to power. Most non-humans struggle to be successful if they live in the capital city and over the last 40 years have migrated off-planet in search of better opportunities. Non-human visitors to the planet should be warned that interactions with government-related officials will be difficult. Law enforcement has been known to "look the other way" when dealing with conflicts or complaints between a human and a non-human. Outside of the capital there is more species diversity but is still mostly human.Industry
The primary industry of Dalicron is bureaucracy. It is, and has been, the capital of the planet and the sector for over 800 years. Much of the capital is dedicated to managing the sector and its relationship to other sectors. This includes government services such as diplomatic corps, military leadership, economic trade, intelligence, and a number of other services. The fertile lands of the planet provide ample agriculture for both rural and suburban residents. There are no agriculture products shipped off planet. The government purchases excess foodstuffs, at a reduced price, and stores them. When the stores get to full a festival is held and the excess is sold at cheap prices to make goods available for the general populace, that are in the capital.Culture
The culture of Dalicron differs considerably depending on whether you are in the capital or a rural town or city. Within the capital the culture is still very much Imperial. The class structure is rigidly enforced and the advancement ladder remains, basically, the same. Imperial troops patrol the city and act as military and police. Stormtrooper armor, once black and white, has had the breastplates colored black and the shoulder pieces colored to indicate rank and specialty. In the rural communities life is very simple, focused primarily on farming and other agricultural practices. Imperial troops are not common in rural areas. Instead there are regional sheriffs that act as law enforcement and arbitration.History
Over 1600 years ago explorers first entered the Dalicron system and performed a survey. Dalicron, along with Anuin, presented two idea planets for colonization and agriculture production. Within years the first settlers began to arrive on Dalicron and its' surface soon became freckled with settlements. For centuries the system was calm with occasional merchant or explorer ships landing and trading. As the edge of humanity expanded, growing along the trade routes, the threat of bandits began to rise. Once such bandit group, led by the notorious Stront Durble, subjugated a number of settlements and returned time and time again leaving the residents just enough to survive. After years of near starvation a resident of one of the settlements was able to get a message, a plea, to a passing merchant vessel, begging them to find someone to deal with the bandit group. It was a stroke of luck that the merchant encountered an exploration fleet, captained by Jasper Whitney, who was travelling down the Hydian Way seeking opportunities. Thinking that the plea might present some opportunities he travelled to the Dalicron system and landed at one of the settlements. What the settlers didn't realize at the time was that Whitney was looking for a place that he could set up a base and create his own domain. When he spoke to the settlers he offered to protect them from the bandit group but requested land for his ships and to create a base of operations. He noted that the bandits led by Durble would not be the only ones to threaten the planet and additional protection would be needed. He offered not only protection but would offer to trade with the settlements, and bring traders to the system, for a small tithe. The settlers, fearing they were trading one demon for another had little choice but to accept. The battle between the two fleets raged over the entire system. After the first encounter it became clear that the bandits could not stand up to Whitney in a straight fight. By the time they realized it many of their ships were destroyed or disabled. Durble was able to flee the initial conflict but was soon engaged in a running battle through the system. In the final encounter Durbles ship was disabled and fell into the systems gas giant. Whitney returned to Dalicron, triumphant after his battle. Over the next 30 years he created a small settlement on the site that is now the capital. He united many of the planetary settlements into a single political entity, the Commonwealth of Bordin, with him as the first governor. Over the next 200 years the Commonwealth survived and prospered. The remote nature of the sector limited the rate at which the Commonwealth could grow but by the time the Galactic Republic reach the sector it had grown to include Foraces, Vryssa, and Bryndar. In 800 BBY the Republic petitioned the Commonwealth to become a member and it agreed. Over the next few centuries the concept of the Commonwealth faded with the sector taking on a more common Republic organizational structure. The capital of Dalicron sits on the same place occupied by the Commonwealth and the palace is an extension of the original government building. It is said that, deep within the palace, are structures preserved and dating back over 800 years ago.Notable Features
The Pandarian Palace
The Pandarian Palace is a series of structures on the planet Dalicron where government business takes place. It is a majestic structure with components dating back over 800 years BBY. It was originally the center of the Commonwealth of Bordin, rumored to be built around the grounded remains of Jasper Whitney's flagship, "Opal Dawn". As time has passed each ruling party has expanded on the palace, sometimes adding sections simply to make a statement. It is said there are entire wings of the palace that have not been entered in over a hundred years and cooridors that go nowhere. Much of the palace is off-limits to the public but there are tours of the remote palace areas not involved in current government work.Grid Location: F-11
