Atte Bouch

Atte Bouch is the name of the sky city that orbits within the gas giant of the same name. The city isn't visible from orbit but as you approach it appears to be a large disk covered with buildings and a large spire angling downward below the center of the city.

Surface

The surface of Atte Bouch is the interior of the sky city. The atmosphere surrounding the sky city is breathable but winds and temperature are dangerous over time. The interior of the city consists of interconnected city sections with cooridors as streets and large atrium for assemblies.

Population

There are approximately 45,000 beings living on Atte Bouch. The population is either involved in the harvesting of tibanna gas or support of those activities. The harvesting population lives and works near the center of the city allowing access to work facilities. The support population lives around the outer ring of the city. Within the outer ring are restaurants, clinics, schools, and a small college that specializes in mechanical and chemical engineering.
Merchants and visitors are generally restricted to the spaceport which is a ring near the top of the city which contains bars and hotels.
The gas mine is owned by a group of three individuals (Larip Mining). They have residences on the city but only one (Barlak Thume) of them is commonly in the city and does most of the city management. The city is broken into districts starting with the harvest and services districts and then those districts are further divided.
Law is kept by peace keepers stationed at the sector level and are generally accepted and respected by the population.

Industry

The only industry for Atte Bouch is the harvesting and sale of tibanna gas.

Culture

The culture of Atte Bouch revolves around the gas harvesting work. In order to distract the population the administrator, Barlak, has created a sporting event (Tarken Ball) that sets the sectors against each other with the final event a competition between the harvest and services districts. The winning sectors from harvest and services are awarded a cash prize to be alotted to all residences in that sector. The winner of the final competition is given upgraded accommodations.

History

Atte Bouch was pulled into position before the clone wars in order to provide fuel for the sector. Initially a government owned facility it became privately owned following the end of the clone war when Larip Mining, run by three executives that used to work on the Bespin mine, convinced the sector government that they could run the mine more efficiently and at a lower cost than the government.

Tarken Ball

This sport has gained sector-wide recognition and is a favorite at all gambling halls. The final event is a time when the city is crowded with visitors and large freighters sit in planetary orbit acting as viewing galleries.
As a result of this popularity those with skills are often recruited to live within the city in order to provide advantage for the sector. Each sector has created a Tarken Council that is responsible for recruitment and funding for the team.
