Mygeeto

A world teeming with crystalline treasures, Mygeeto is a harsh arctic world that is ill-suited for life that cannot stand extremely cold temperatures. Populated mostly by the pacifistic Lurmen, the planet is currently under the protection of the Czerka Corporation, who keep marauders from attacking in exchange for mining rights across the planet and its moons.

CLIMATE

Covered in jagged rock and crystalline formations, it is often hard to discern what is land and what is ice when observed from a distance. The planet is covered in many subterranean caverns, with large underground biomes supported by geothermal vents creating a unique ecosystem compared to many other planets that developed sentient life. Researchers believe that originally, Mygeeto was a tropical world that suffered extreme and sudden climate change which altered the course of life for organisms on the planet. Several of the more resilient species, Lurmen included, retreated to the newly-formed cavern networks and survived between the tenuous balance of molten pockets and the frozen surface. Due to the extinction event, no known predators exist on Mygeeto, which many believe is what helped the Lurmen to develop as a pacifistic race, as cooperation rather than conflict was key to their survival.

LIFEFORMS

Non-Sentient

While now subterranean, the lifeforms on Mygeeto originally developed to thrive in lush tropical conditions; the unique ecosystems created in the underground thermal caves have allowed certain species to thrive and evolve while maintaining many of their original traits.

Arctic Porg - A variation of the porg species, these birds have adapted to be able to live on Mygeeto's icy surface. Feeding off the few surface dwelling plants, they are the only known native animal to live on the surface of Mygeeto. Low food supplies are the only limiting factor to the growth of their population, with large families nesting near the docking ports due to additional food sources brought in from trade.

Mygeetan Whiteworm - The only creature on Mygeeto classified as a potential threat, Whiteworms are massive creatures that feed off the natural energy from within the planet's vents, digesting various crystalline compounds while moving throughout the crust which gives them a toughened outer layer impervious to most energy weapons. Huge and dangerous when threatened, most are more than willing to wait for one to pass rather than try to eliminate it due to the sheer amount of energy and resources needed to combat one.

Tauntaun - A recent import to the planet, Tauntauns have been an invaluable addition to the planet when aiding individual travel over the surface of the planet. Their durable nature and frost-protected hides allow long outdoor exposure to the climate and their speed makes travel quicker than some other modes of transport. While useful, the surface does not have enough forage for them so careful preparation is needed before long-distance travel occurs.

Vulptex - Another recent addition, vulptex were smuggled to the surface by annoyed dockworkers who sought to reduce the number of porgs that began congregating around ship pads. An arctic species, and now the only carnivore introduced to Mygeeto, the predatory fennec species population has boomed due to lots of prey and no predators of their own. Not considering the future ramifications, the dock workers have solved the problem of excessive porgs but added in the problem of too many vupltex.

Sentient

Most sentient lifeforms avoid the idea of settling on Mygeeto due to the large number of alternatives with preferential climates. Some Chiss have considered attempting to establish a colony here but no active plans have been made as of yet.

Lurmen - The native sentient race on Mygeeto, the Lurmen reside in communal clusters throughout the hollow bastion cities they have carved within Mygeeto's cave system. Focused on family unity and peaceful coexistence, Lurmens have not developed extensively like other civilizations. Without conflict, there was no need for rapid technological development - with many individuals focusing on philosophical and spiritual pursuits rather than science. With more influence from galactic travelers, many Lurmen have found an interest in pursuing philanthropic careers - often finding themselves working with Ithorians and other races to make the galaxy a better place.

Muun - The Muun are recent immigrants that have come to Mygeeto within the past few decades. Interested in the materials available on the planet, several industrial complexes were made in agreement with the Lurmen government. Specializing in droid production, Mygeeto is now one of the central development centers for droids constructed by Czerka Corp. The Muun have also constructed the few above-ground settlements that exist on Mygeeto, often within quick trade distance to Lurmen settlements.

HISTORY

For the longest time Mygeeto was neglected by galactic civilizations due to the belief that it was a dead world - one of the many solar bodies that cannot support life naturally. This changed when a Czerka  freighter was forced into an emergency landing during a fight with raiders. It was after the crew was forced to abandon their vessel that they learned a race did inhabit the world - they were merely living under, rather than on it.   With sole knowledge of life on Mygeeto, Czerka was quick to form profitable treatise with the Lurmen people, solidifying their economic hold on the planet and providing the natives with access to the galactic market. Having finally acquired a significant world within the Core systems, Czerka heavily invested in geological surveys and surface infrastructure for industrial development. These investments quickly paid off in the form of various highly-desired minerals and crystals used by many civilizations throughout the galaxy, thus further increasing Czerka's economic powers throughout the galaxy.

NOTABLE SETTLEMENTS

Jygat

Largest of the cavern communes, Jygat serves as a pseudo-capital for the Lurmen people. While most conclaves are run independently, Jygat has a meeting hall where village elders can meet to discuss news and needs of the various townships. Massive hollowed out stalactite and stalagmite buildings house civilians with additional buildings molded out of hardened earth fill the gaps creating an urban setting different to most settlements on Mygeeto. The Czerka Corp also houses a headquarters here with open access to all citizens who wish to speak with representatives about any issues or problems they may have.

Port Hauyuki

The main industrial hub on the planet, Hauyuki was an ambitious project developed by Muun engineers with the backing of Czerka funds. Sheltered from the weather by several environmental domes, warmed with giant thermal engines, most citizens still wear heavy protective attire due to the harsh nature of the planet. Multiple outer hubs contain droid factories and mineral refineries, with mining droids harvesting local nodes of crystals.
