Czerka Corporation

Galactic Banking Organization

A mega-corporation and intergalactic financial banking institution, Czerka Corporation - more commonly referred to as Czerka Corp - is the largest and most prominent business around and is currently the dominant method of exchange between currency types. Due to their influence range and invested assets, Czerka maintains several naval patrols to protect the trade routes between various independent and factioned planets. As a neutral party, Czerka Corp also negotiates most monetary transactions between Sith and Republic credits, ensuring a baseline for trade among areas that would otherwise be at war. Major stockpiles of wealth and a personal mercenary army keep both the Sith Empire and The Republic at bay from trying to impose authority over trade-ways.

History

A corporation with a long and controversial history, Czerka has been a major influence on galactic events for the last few centuries. Clawing its way to the top with fierce competitiveness and sound business practices, this golden age of Czerka saw their expansion from small planetary commerce to galactic trade. With several centuries of high profits and diversification into multiple industries, corruption and negligence began to emerge within the upper layers of Czerka. Unethical trade and quick-cash ventures began to become more common practice as focus turned to short term gain for executives and management rather than company growth. This eventually led to ties with The Exchange and Sith Empire in the form of slave trade and land acquisition. These practices plagued Czerka throughout the Mandalorian and Jedi Civil Wars until their corruption was finally brought to light during the First Jedi Purge.

After the initial reveal, Czerka went through a major upheaval as many planets went through deep internal investigations of local branches and many officials throughout the galaxy were hit with fines and criminal charges leading to a flushing of those who were abusing the system from the company's employ. With many assets seized by local governments, Czerka almost collapsed from their situation and spent several years teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. It was only with the help of their new CEO, Mission Vao, that they were able to turn things around and build themselves up again. Vowing transparency and honesty as their main business practices, new reforms were made with current business standards and industrial methods to revitalize the company and establish economic dominance once again.

Relations

Sith Empire

As a government with emphasis on industrial production, many Czerka factories lie within the borders of the Sith Empire. From droids and starships to blasters and thermal detonators, many products shipped throughout the galaxy originate from workesites on planets like Malachor and Duro. As an impartial business, Czerka tries to serve both the Empire and Republic equally as all citizens lives are improved with the free trade made possible through Czerka's political maneuvering. It should be noted, that Czerka refuses to have any dealings with the planet Kessel and any other governments or organizations that choose to still operate with slave labor.

The Republic

Many of the Republic's planets contain vital resources for advanced manufacturing which Czerka utilizes for their production line. One of the key resources within the Republic is the large aquabeds of kolto on Manaan. Major food production sites also reside on Manaan and Mon Cala where large numbers of fish can be harvested. While plentiful in natural reserves, fragmented senate interests and bureaucracy have kept the Republic from having as robust an industrial complex as the Empire has. Due to this, heavy reliance on Czerka supply lines has kept a professional relationship between the two.

Ithorian Restoration League

Czerka has a sore history due to its past unscrupulous business practices. In the early second century, Czerka made several decisions that massively hindered the burgeoning I.R.L. - the most egregious being the attempted sabotage of the restoration efforts on Telos. With the recent shift in upper management, efforts have been made to shape up the company and recover their tarnished reputation across the galaxy. To make amends for their previous deed, Czerka donated a large sum to their restoration efforts. This has left some members optimistic about their changed ways, while more cynical members feel that the act was merely for political and social clout.

The Exchange

As a criminal organization, Czerka has been vigilant about the possibility of raids and infiltration by members of The Exchange. Fortunately, it seems that the Exchange current has ordered a moratorium on operations against Czerka business. The reason for this decision is unknown, though some experts believe it may have to do with the tenuous security of galactic powers - while war may be good for profit, economic collapse could render stockpiled credits worthless. Whatever the reason, Czerka is determined to remain unaffiliated with illicit dealings of the Exchange or any other shady groups.
