Power of Darkness.
No singular doctrine or gospel encapsulates The Depths, and its worshippers reach from bordering upon or reaching deep into far realm occultism. ‘To The Depths with you’ was always a common phrase among sailors, but in recent centuries nefarious wildspace denizens have responded supportively of the idea.
Cults of The Depths tend to follow ancient fathomless powers, whose very nature tends to shatter the minds of those worshipping them. Many groundling cultures have legends of whispering horrors in the dark, but in wildspace the dark is the default state, and academics speculate such beings find habitats at the edge of star systems, where they are darkest before the astral sea touches them. Some claim the mind flayers, beholders, and many other aberrations are children or descendants of The Depths, which seems possible given their far realm connections.
Grillex is often conflated with the powers of The Depths, but is far more civilised than they tend to be. Scuttle whispers of planets made of writing tentacles, of boiling clouds of insects where no two share the same shape, and of immense beings of shapes so strange they curl the eye and bend the mind.
