Swarms

Representing anything from a cloud of small insects to a boiling pit of snakes, swarms unique to the setting are represented using a type that includes a number.
A swarm's hit points are not tracked in the regular manner. The number in each swarm type is the number of damage required in a single blow (be it a melee or ranged weapon, spell, or other effect) to affect the swarm. Any source of damage greater than this number reduces the swarm's health by one and only one level - from healthy to wounded, from wounded to critically wounded, and from critically wounded to 0 hit point.
For example, a Swarm of Snakes, Medium, is a Medium sized creature, and has the type Swarm (20). When dealt 20 hit points of damage, the Swarm of Snakes, Medium loses one level of health. When dealt less than 20 hit points of damage, the Swarm of Snakes is unaffected.
While healthy, a swarm may make three attack actions as listed on its entry. While wounded, it may make two attack actions as listed on its entry. While critically wounded, a swarm may only attack as per the regular monster entry.
