Shark-Kin (Brute, Great White, Hammerhead)
Shark-Kin dominate lawless areas of wildspace and the astral sea, making their homes among asteroid fields, space coral, and on small ramshackle stations held together with hemp rope and overly complicated knots. They are generally thugs, quick to anger, and known for making rash impulsive decisions.
Brutes are the most common Shark-Kin, muscular humanoids standing between five and seven feet tall. They have taloned hands and feet, may have fins on their back, head, or the back of their forearms, and have little to no neck. Their faces are dominated by wide toothy jaws, and some carve pictures and symbols into their huge pointed teeth. Their skin varies in colour from red through the entire rainbow to violet, or may even be stark white or jet black. Brute’s tend to move slowly in general, bursting into action as required.
The larger, heaviest of the three Shark-Kin species, Great Whites vary from seven feet tall all the way up to twelve. They are most closely related to Brutes, and may be mistaken for them where a sense of scale is not apparent. Their skin colours tend towards beiges and greys, with white markings across their bodies. The largest of Great Whites have an almost alabaster white skin, and their thick hides reflect light hauntingly. Great whites are quiet in conversation, but have a keen sense of survival, and defer to those in command loyally.
Hammerheads have a smaller head supported by a neck, and are often more lithe than their Brute cousins, but no less deadly. They tend to be between four and a half and six feet tall, with smaller mouths and eyes than Brutes. Their teeth are sharp, but not quite as deadly as other Shark-Kin, and they have developed keener senses of survival and combat to balance out. They are far less common than Brutes, but gravitate towards positions of leadership.
