Proud, proper, and pugnacious, Dread Pirate Captain Huffington (the third) is a rarity among the Giff - a noble and proud pirate, through and through. While her and the crew of the Dardanelle are less cutthroat as others, she has in the past taken prisoners for bounty, although she typically has her crew loot the most valuable items of booty before setting her targets adrift.
Huffington has an intense hatred for the Imperial Elven Navy, and contrary to her ‘noble pirate’ nature will happily riddle their ships with holes and leave them shattered in space. So deep is her hatred for the IEN, rumoured to have slain her mother Huffington II, that she assumes any and all elves are agents of the empire, and refuses to deal with them. She is not shy of displaying this bigotry, and often refers to elves present as ‘pointy eared bastards’ while otherwise refusing to acknowledge them.
She runs a tight ship with a crack veteran crew of Giff. The Dardanelle is possibly the smallest of vessels taking part in the challenge, but it is no less deadly than the others. The great bombard itself is a cannon that takes up nearly three quarters of the length of the ship, and her captain spends a great deal of her takings on smoke powder charges to keep it armed.
Huffington was involved in one of the last brawls between crews prior to Blackjammer’s enforced peace, herself cracking the carapace of one of Keth’s Umber Hulks with her own forehead. Never one to back down from a fight, it took the cutlass of Blackjammer himself at her own throat to make her back down.
It has been rumoured that Huffington has at times been a close companion, or indeed lover, to Blackjammer, but she refuses to dignify the idea with a response stronger than a raised eyebrow.
