Fleshcrafting

The power at the heart of the Beholder Empires of the Tyrant Era, fleshcrafting is an incredibly powefful magical means of physical modification of animal, mineral, and vegetable bodies.
Often misconstrued as similar to Ceremorphosis, the ancient power of the fleshcrafters is purely magical and distinct from the psionic-magical hybrid power Ilsensine granted to her creations.
The origin of fleshcrafting is suspected to lay within the natural abilities of the Tyrant Empresses of their era. In myth and legend these massive Beholders could magically spawn hive mothers directly from their own bodies, give birth to clusters of Beholders, and magically alter many species (including their own) through powerful thaumaturgy.
Thankfully, the art of fleshcrafting appears to have been lost when the Beholder Empires were defeated at the end of the Tyrant Era, but rumours persist of hidden magical laboratories studying ancient Beholder artifacts, and long dormant abominations from the Tyrant Era sleeping among silent asteroids in space.
