An Arcane Study is a place of quiet research that contains one or more desks and bookshelves. An Arcane Study is used by characters and crew to maintain their ability as spellcasters.
Crew Access
If you have an active Arcane Study, you can recruit crew that use an Arcane Focus as a Spellcasting Focus when you use the Recruit Action aboard the vessel.
Proficiency
When you perform a Craft action on the facility, if you are proficient with Arcana make a proficiency check against DC 20; if successful you collect an additional amount of goods. If you are not proficient with Arcana make a wisdom check against DC 15; if successful you gain proficiency with Arcana.
Craft Options.
When you use the Craft Action with this facility, choose one of the following options:
Craft: Arcane Focus. Craft an Arcane Focus. The crafted items are placed in your cargo.
Craft: Identifier. Craft a single use magic item called an Identifier that lasts for 10 days or until you use it. The Identifier allows someone with the Arcana proficiency to cast Identify without expending a spell slot or using Material components. The crafted items are placed in your cargo.
Craft: Book. Craft a blank book. The crafted items are placed in your cargo.
Craft: Magic Item (Arcana). Requires level 9+, you use the Arcane Study to craft a Common or an Uncommon magic item chosen by you from the Arcana tables in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Masters Guide. The facility has the tool required to craft the item, and you or a member of your crew with loyalty 10+ must have proficiency with the relevant tool(s) as well as proficiency in the Arcana skill. See the “Crafting Magic Items” section in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Masters Guide for the time and money that must be spent to craft the item. If the item allows its user to cast any spells from it, you must craft the item yourself (the facility’s hireling can assist), and you must have all those spells prepared every day you spend crafting the item.
