Uncle of Danny Mason, and brother of Arias Masson, Nyar, who prefers to use only his last name in conversation has taken an interest in attempting to raise Danny. His relations with Danny closely resemble that of a father, perhaps because of the obscure similarities between them. Nyar however has very little access to even communicate with Danny, due to the difference in physical location. Living in New York, Nyar is in common communication with Danny and his family via telephone. However, Nyar, Arias, and Jenson have all collectively worked together to keep Danny from the forbidden truth of magic and Sprawn Valley.
