Spur Meluta

Spur Meluta is a town on the southeastern coast of Grand Tescary, and has been the historic home of one of the most successful clans in Grand Tescary, the home of the Meluta clan. Containing the great halls of the Meluta clan, as well as those of other clans based in the city, the town is walled, and contains a large harbor to house the many boats of the Meluta and affiliated clans. Historically, tribute has flowed into the town from neighboring clans, making the Meluta chieftain akin to a king.
In recent decades, the Condominium have had an office built in the harbor, and the Hall of Elders at the market square of the town sees markedly less traffic. Most realize that it is no longer the Meluta chief who is the true power in the region, but rather the Condominium officer. While the Condominium has not disrupted the tributary relationships in Meluta's orbit, it has made many one-sided trade deals with the clan, and has obtained the free usage of the harbor.

Demographics

Most inhabitants of the city are members of Clan Meluta, a large clan or tribe with many subsidiary units. The Apice, Razis, and Rutane clans also have significant presence in the town, and members of the rural inland clans of Resciu, Sulu, Hurace, and Veru often come over to trade. The Runberi have a comparatively small but influential presence in the town.
