Rundekk Mahara

(a.k.a. Ruddy)

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

They are quite fit for their age, but the wear of time can be seen. They are short, broad, heavily tanned, and afflicted with failing lungs from the dusty dryness of Yridos and slaving over the smoke of the forge.

Identifying Characteristics

One of their arms is missing, and has been replaced by a multi-tool robotic arm. She lost hers in the early in her travels, when a ruin she was exploring collapsed and her arm was caught in the rubble. She was pinned for two days before giving in and cutting her arm off.

Apparel & Accessories

  • They wear primarily cotton, loose fitting, breathable clothes of the colours of the desert, beneath a leather smithing apron.
  • Their hair is always pulled back in a loose, messy braid that is intertwinned with, and tied by, a leather strip that is decorated with golden dwarven runes, a family heirloom
  • She is always accompanied by her faithful Servo, Reginald.
  • Specialized Equipment

Outside of their blacksmith's hammer, they wield a large, two handed battle hammer that has the ability to released eruptions of energy when striking.

Their multi-tool arm has a series of swappable tools

    Mental characteristics

    Personal history

Rundekk was raised in an uncharateristically comfortable home. Their mother, Simbroda, was sold as a slave to a merchant man named Hamut, who fell in love with her tenacity and endless optimism. He freed and married her, and they raised Rundekk together on his estate. Hamut was a wealthy merchant with strong connections to The Kashan Caliphate, so they were always well taken care of.

Content working for their father's store, Rundekk spent most of their life in a simple way. But when they turned 130, the tantalizing secrets of lost dwarven strongholds, and the sad and fading history of their kin, pushed Rundekk out of the store, owned by Simbroda now that Hamut had passed.

They wandered the Silent shore for 50 years, seeking answers. Sometimes, they felt like they got close, finding an artifact, or the whisper of a trail. But eventually, exhausted, broke, and aging out of the adventuring life, they tried returning home to Avalheim. There they found out Simbroda had passed away, of old age. Wracked with guilt at their absence during their mother's last moments, they fled, and took up ownership of The Dusty Bug in Afasit, hoping to remain close to their dream of answers, to maybe one day find their people.

    Education

Shunned by most kids their age for their mixed parentage and dwarven appearance, Rundekk was homeschool by some of the best. They received a well rounded education in Saikar and Bastion history, and a fairly one-sided education of Yridosian and Kashan history.

    Employment

  • Shopkeeper for Hamut's store of trinkets, oddities, and relics in Avalheim, The Sandswept Trove
  • Adventurer/explorer
  • Proprietor of The Dusty Bug bar, inn, and smithy
  • Accomplishments & Achievements

  • Improving The Sandswept Trove to one of the premiere shops of its kind on Yridos, gaining recognition from, and status in The Guild of Independent Merchants and Companies
  • Explored most of the known ruins along the southern edge of the Silent Shore, which is how she found Quantanamous.
  • Explored much of the nearby stretch of the Silent Sea, including the major landmarks.
  • Failures & Embarrassments

  • Their failure to prove the existence of, and join the dwarves they believe are in hiding is their greatest shame
  • Mental Trauma

  • Their failure to be around for their mother's death due to their obsession with the hunt for their people has left a major scar
  • The kids bullying them about their people's enslavement, and now they feel inherently like their freedom is not earned, and they have done nothing to help enslaved dwarves
  • Intellectual Characteristics

They are extremely savvy with a forge, and can fix most anything, and they are an excellent businessperson with economic intelligence and a century of shopkeeping to have refined it. This has equally refined their ability to understand, read, empathize with, and persuade people.

    Morality & Philosophy

They believe everyone ought to be able to live their lives as they want. They believe it to be the greatest act of evil to deprive someone of their cultural heritage, stories, and homeland, and freedom.

  • They don't, however, go much beyond speaking of it when it comes to how that relates to the Saikar legacy, and those that carry it today

  • When they was younger, they were proud to have gotten themself and their father's shop into the Saikar Guild, and the influence and power that comes with it

  • Now, in their older age, they have awakened to the atrocities of the Saikar, and now wishes to remain separate from them, but knows they alone can't do anything to make it right
