Rose Sprite

Born of bloodied earth, the rose sprites are one of the more warlike types of fairies. Their origin give them an inherent connection to the art of war, which captures their imagination and interests. As such, their interests are often more morbid than most would expect, even if they still approach it with a sort of whimsical wonder. The fact that most people don't expect fairies to be interested in violence or war is something rose sprites are often aware of and use to their advantage against those who earn their ire.   Born of blood, they excel at spilling it in battle. Targets they catch unware often find themselves with jugulars cut open before they even realise the fairies have taken up arms, and many a foe of the rose sprites have died without drawing their own weapons. Rose sprites are most often armed with a thin rapier seeming shaped out of a rose's thorn. It is in fact an extension of the fairy's own desire to fight and if broken, they can reconjure it with ease from their own blood.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Rose sprites keep the basic fairy bodyplan, with a set of arms, a pair of leg and an abdomen, all protected by a exoskeleton. Their wings stand out for being many different shades of red, usually the darker ones. Their healthy bodies are protected from disease and poison, but uniquely, their connection with blood gives them some manner of control over their internal fluids, allowing them to seal any wounds they receive. Like all fairies, they are also completely fearless. Should a rose sprite die, they will wither into the form of a seed. If watered with blood, that seed will regrow into the rose sprite. The only way around this is for the sprite to be killed with blood, such as drowning in it, an act that corrupts their ability to reincarnate and kills them for good.

Genetics and Reproduction

Like all fairies, rose sprites are born from plants that has soaked up primal magic. In their case, roses grown on battlefields or other sites of violence seems to be the ideal condition.

Ecology and Habitats

Rose sprites like the wilds, but also find themselves drawn to sites of conflict, which they usually attempt to pretty up. Such sites often have skeletons of the fallen and weapons of war artfully mixed up with thorny rose bushes and clusters of wild flowers, creating a macabre scenery.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Like most fairies, rose sprites delight in sugary treats, but also has a slightly more carnivorous bend with a strong liking for meat. Rose sprites often hunt rabbits or other animals about that size.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Rose sprites often gather in small, militant groups, often bonding over a shared fascination with a specific aspect of battle. They often spend time reenacting battles(Often with easily fixable fatalities) or hunting for more information on that particular battle, which can involve them travelling quite far to find veterans or historians to question. If they feel threatened, these groups can display a level of cooperative combativeness most people don't expect from fairies.
