Dahlia Damutamu

Iyalode Dahlia Damutamu (a.k.a. One Punch Dahlia)

Dahlia is one of the oldest vampires of Vastiaria, almost older than the modern timeline. She's used these many years to the fullest, gaining powers and riches while experiencing what the world has to offer. Which leads her to her current struggle with the greatest enemy she's ever faced.   Boredom.   Dahlia suffer from a constant sense of dullness, not helped by the fact that her vast power makes most challenges quite easily surmountable, not helped by her mind having slowly lost some of its proverbial elasticity, making it harder for her to acquire new skills. To combat this, Dahlia wanders the world and gleefully throws herself at anything that promises excitement, a sentiment that can be quite off-putting to others for whom these things are matters of life and death. She's helped found and destroy nations, delved into ancient ruins, fought all manners of beasts and monstrosities and read every book she could get her hands on. Yet much to her delighted amazement, despite her personal struggles, she still finds that life has surprises in store for her, even if she has to work harder to find them these days.   In combat, which she is more than willing to engage in, Dahlia relies upon her supreme speed to outmaneuver the enemy and then strike them with whatever weaponry will do the best job, usually finishing them off by plunging her proboscis into their body and draining their blood.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

From her vampiric nature, Dahlia gains strength enough to pulverize boulders with her hand and endurance such that a punch from a giant barely fazes her. But what she excels at is her speed. Dahlia can accelerate to truly ridiculous levels, becoming a barely perceptible blur at her fastest, though even she cannot keep moving like that for more than short bursts.

Identifying Characteristics

The softer parts of her exoskeleton, running from the underside of her abdomen to below her head, is a notable shade of red.

Special abilities

As an elder vampire of considerable age, Dahlia has developed a number of abilities beyond what is normal for her kind.   While all mosquito vampires are fast, Dahlia has developed this trait to an insane degree, more than capable of moving in short bursts so quick that she shatters the sound barrier. While her fastest speeds can only be maintained in short bursts without risking overtaxing her body, even her normal speed allows her to outrace bullets. She's even managed to combine it with her medical skills, allowing her to quickly perform complex medical procedures in the heat of battle.   Her skills in combat are also supernaturally endowed. Her claws have a habit of always finding something to hook onto, allowing her to pull enemies into reach of her proboscis and her natural magic seems to synergize with the enchantments of the Rainmaker, increasing its destructive potential. The same seems to hold true for her laanakezwa.   As a vampire, she has an innate knack for curses, which has also blossomed into a frightening power. Dahlia can conjure cursed swampland, something she often does to create moats or defenses. Over time, these cursed patches of land has become as ravenously bloodthirsty as their creator and anyone who dares brave them swiftly find their life sucked out by the hexed muck. The entire Swamp of Drowned Dreams have been infected with this curse, though it only targets invaders and leave the native wildlife alone.   As a vampire, she can shapeshift, specifically into a mosquito of considerable size. Over the years, this transformation has become larger and more monstrous, allowing her to turn into a flying menace of gargantuan proportions.

Apparel & Accessories

Dahlia doesn't wear much but an enchanted blue shawl to protect her against cold weather and backpacks to carry all the interesting stuff she finds.

Specialized Equipment

Dahlia wields the Rainmaker, an enchanted, custom-designed bazooka of fearsome power, which she uses quite liberally when engaging enemies in combat. Beyond that she wields a series of darts carved from darkwood known as laanakezwa.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Dahlia was born to the Silverspear family, one of the most powerful factions in the sphere of Oomeath. She and her twin Hugo were children to the leader, the despotic Duchess Velika Silverspear. But Dahlia and her twin brother lacked the abject cruelty of their mother and found her ways of treating the races that had the misfortune of living within what she considered the territory of the Silverspears to be pointless sadism. Finally, after the genocide of the people of Illurdine in 343 AIT, her brother convinced her that they had to get out.   During a great noble gathering, the two siblings managed to sneak out and fled, leaving the sphere behind.   They arrived in Vastiaria, where they journeyed to the most frozen and glacial regions. There they wandered from town to town, feeding off whomever they could catch, though taking care not to kill unless they had to. In time, their activities begun attracting attention and with attention came people who wished to share in the vampires' power. Hugo transformed select candidates, forming the Blacksting clan in 352 AIT with Dahlia serving as co-commander.   For many years, this arrangement worked out, with Hugo serving as tactical leader of the organization and Dahlia heading the raids on the isolated villages of the region. But in 1478 AIT, Dahlia realized something.   She was getting bored.   Hugo had managed to turn their feeding into such an established and well-oiled routine, that there was no challenge to it. Most villages just surrendered at the sight of the Blacksting vampires, knowing that there was no point in struggling and that they would be left alive if they complied. All in all, it was dull. And when she could not take the dullness anymore, she parted with her twin on amicable terms and set out to experience the world herself.   She journeyed for many years, before temporarily settling in the warmer regions of Vastiaria, finding it much more to her liking. In 2001 AIT, she began founding her own lineage of vampires, the Damutamu tribe . She managed to settle the Swamp of Drowned Dreams and founded the city of Embu in the middle in 2021 AIT. The place was designed to fit with her own aesthetics and beliefs, but was never meant as a permanent place of residence. She'd often leave the city for years at a time to explore new spheres or see how old ones had changed, working as a mercenary all the while.   2281 AIT, she would have her first daughter. She would go on to have two more daughters in 2282 and 2288 AIT respectively.   In 2367 AIT, she encountered a fellow mercenary named Tropos while on work. They'd hit it off and the two would go on to become close, always meeting up again even after spending years apart.

Gender Identity

Dahlia identifies as female

Sexuality

Leans strongly towards homosexuality, though men with particularly fascinating, entertaining or impressive qualities have been known to catch her fancy. She's very dominating, with a fondness for group sex.

Education

While she still lived with the Silverspear family, Dahlia was put through rigorous tutoring by the best teachers her family could afford. And there were few things they couldn't afford.   Once she was out on her own, Dahlia took an interest in reading books and built up a impressive, if scattershot, amount of knowledge.   She never did have patience for schooling, but she did occasionally meet people who had the personality necessary to teach her, including the healer Momoko Kamino who taught her much about the art of medicine.

Employment

Dahlia currently serve as iyalode of Embu, though in practice the job is often overseen by her trusted servants. When she's out and about she works as a mercenary, taking whatever jobs manage to pique her curiosity.

Accomplishments & Achievements

The founding of the Damutamu and the city of Embu are both major accomplishments on Dahlia's part.   In 2494 AIT, she was one of several mercenaries hired to assist in the Rennbuedale Conquest, which led to the founding of the Rennbuedale Kingdom. Dahlia was personally credited with holding off the Irontusk Tribe at Gunther Pass in 2495, preventing them from outflanking the Rennbuedale military while they were regrouping.   In 2678 AIT, Dahlia encountered the Order of the Blue Feather. During a chance meeting, one of the order's leaders bragged about the unyielding strength of their troops. Dahlia argued that they weren't as strong as they thought. Challenged on this, the vampire left, only to return a season later with her daughters and a select few of her elite amazons. After conquering a fortress town under the control of the Blue Feathers, their leadership was forced to agree that their forces had much to still learn.

Failures & Embarrassments

Every time Dahlia is reminded of her mother's existence and the fact that she still rules unopposed, she feels the sting of regret for not having managed to gather potent allies yet to dethrone the ancient vampire.

Mental Trauma

Her long life has caused a sense of mental rigidness to set in, making it literally harder for her to learn new skills.

Intellectual Characteristics

Over her many ages of existence, Dahlia's mind has expanded considerably. She's incredibly smart with near perfect memory, only really forgetting things that bore her. She's sharp-eyed and quick-witted, with a will of iron. On top of that, she's disarmingly charming with a considerable strong force of personality.

Morality & Philosophy

Dahlia is decidedly amoral, viewing the world mostly in terms of whether it is entertaining or not. She's perfectly willing to engage in heroics for the fun of it, but has no inherent drive to make the world a better place, preferring it wild and exciting rather than safe and boring. She doesn't go out of her way to hurt people unnecessarily though and tend towards being kind to strangers, if nothing else because they might have something fun to tell her.

Taboos

Dahlia disapproves of pointless cruelty. She also disapproves of people trying to dress what they do up to sound better. Not coincidentally, her mother did both. Dahlia accepts that she feeds of people and that she has done some cruel stuff in her life, though never without reason, and those are the standards she holds others to.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Having lived for such a long time, Dahlia is beset by a creeping feeling of ennui. She longs for new, exciting experiences and has been known to take dangerous risks in order to feel a rush of excitement.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Over her long life, Dahlia has mastered quite a number of skills. Her mastery of her own body makes her skilled in all manners of acrobatics and athletics. She knows how to craft a variety of chemicals, foods, medicines as well as items made of wood and metal. She's honed her mind, strengthening her will and focus to the point of being unyielding. She's mastered the medical arts and is skilled at moving unseen. She knows how to use her reputation, strength and strong personality to intimidate others into obedience. She's mastered the art of hunting a variety of species, sapient and non-sapient alike. She's also a skilled dancer and highly proficient in both the natural weapons of her body and the various other weapons she chooses to equip herself with. Years of experience has also rendered her an masterful caretaker of her city and a highly skilled mercenary who rarely finds herself without job offers.   On the flipside, Dahlia has never studied much on the gods and spirits. Not out of a lack of interest, but because by her logic, the less she knows the more exciting it will be to find out. Despite handling a fair number of magical items, she's also never put more than cursory effort into understanding how they work, mostly relying on experience and guesswork. Despite her charming nature, she's also very brusque and blunt, making her a less than elegant diplomat. While it is innate to her kind, she never focus much on developing her blood magic, instead focusing on her skill with curses.

Likes & Dislikes

She likes women, people who can impress her(Or at least have the guts to try), her new family, her lovers, fruit, swamps and warm climates.   She dislikes cold climates, her old family(aside from her twin brother), boring books, vampires who put on airs.

Virtues & Personality perks

She's honest, fun-loving, encourages others to find their own path and loves her family, friends and partners dearly.

Vices & Personality flaws

She can be sorta arrogant, her desire for fun and excitement often comes before any concern for those affected and her favoring of excitement over stability can lead her to make decisions that have detrimental effects for those who aren't thousand year old vampires that can shrug off point-blank cannon blasts.
