Broken Obelisk Session 12
General Summary
Session 12: 27-04-2025
The party considers where to go next during the party onboard the Spelljammer after defeating the dragon. They'll go back to The Rock of Bral to regroup, plan and sell their loot and the butchered dragon. Ron and Trix also want to steal a magicalbook from the library and after some debate they're thinking of keeping it for themselves, or at least to see if it contains powerful magic. Trix and Kaxxa identify the book Arcanum Mythallium as a translation of some of the Nether Scrolls, scrolls containing ancient powerful magic from the Netheril empire lost long ago.
Flying off to the Rock is uneventful and they get a nice long rest before docking at the wooden Spelljammer harbor. Bruise has the idea to hit the bars in the area and Kaxxa inquires with the captain about where to sell and appraise the items they recovered from the Hellish prison and the dragon. They get direction to Gaspar's Reclamations, shop specialised in salvaged items, components, hunting trophies and magical loot as well as having the option to craft items on commission. Other options are The Happy Beholder tavern run by Laughing Luigi, an information broker and lastly the Rockrat tavern and its wererat owner Maya who has connections to the underworld and the underbaron Ozamata.
Kaxxa gets the items appraised and negotiates a deal for two suits of armor, a leather armor made from green dragon hide and a dragon-bone armor. They can get 3000gp for the remaining dragon components and another 1500 for the Kingmaker sword. They decide to look for other buyers to get a better deal.
They stop by the Happy Beholder tavern and meet with the barkeep Large Luigi, a friendly Beholder who uses his telekineses to fetch drinks for everyone. After sitting down and getting a special ale on the house Ron decides to meet with some thieves. They spot him however, leave the tavern and he has to chase them down outside resulting in a short confrontation but he gets back without incident. Torold notices a poster on the wall showing a sign-in sheet for a bard competition and Ymari has signed her name on it.
Moving over to the Rockrat tavern they meet with the barkeeper Maya, a strange Human sized rat creature who pours them some foul tasting beers. Kaxxa questions her getting some information about the criminal underbelly of the city and she will use her network to sell their dragon components and magic items. Her boss is Ozamata himself, the underbaron of the Low City.
Torold gets really drunk after Kaxxa gets some strong liquor from the wererat barkeep. After several bottles he jumps on the table and dances gleefully until he slips on some cutlery and passes out. Bruise picks him up and carries him out to the Library of the Spheres to investigate the security system.
They leave Torold propped up on a chair and start investigating the building finding a mechanical alarm system connected to something and there are small clockwork creatures with halberd patrolling. They learn that there's a forbidden section behind a large bronze door engraved with runes. Geralt takes some time to sketch the door, its runes and the intricate lock. Later he'll sit down with Trix and they'll figure out its a masterwork Gnomish lock.
Kaxxa speaks to one of the librarian and gets shown to the archives filled with architectural designs of some of the structures of the city. He takes a look at the designs for the Library itself and notes the architect Ryrellam . Bruise takes Torold back to the ship to sleep it off while the others head into town to find a similar lock for Ron to practice on. Kaxxa goes to the Rockrat to request a copy of the original plans in the hopes that it reveals the secrets that were omitted on the copy in the archive.
The next day he receives the plans and they head over to Hunter's Hall to check in with Ymari and plan their heist.
