MANIFESTATION STATES: A QUICK ORIENTATION
Before discussing conjurance, it is essential to understand the three manifestation states recognized by the NUN. These states describe how your consciousness expresses itself, not your social status, employment classification, or contractual obligations.
Every Concordant spirit exists within one of these categories at any given time—though transitions between states are possible depending on stability, trauma, pattern health, or environmental influence.
THE THREE RECOGNIZED STATES
1. SOMATIC
You possess a functional somatic channel capable of producing a visible ectoplasmic form—your “ghost-body.”
Somatic Concordants typically manifest:
- Full or partial silhouettes
- Gestural and facial expressiveness
- Standard sensory possession capabilities
- Strong identity-schema cohesion
Somatic manifestation is energetically expensive but provides the highest degree of agency and social clarity.
2. ANICONIC
Your somatic channel exists but is dormant, suppressed, or temporarily damaged.
You cannot currently produce visible form, but recovery is possible.
Common causes include:
- FROS contamination
- Pattern fatigue
- Emotional fracture
- Overexertion
- Anchor displacement
- Contract suppression (in certain workplace contexts)
Aniconic spirits remain fully conscious and capable of most forms of spectral interaction, including standard possession. Many regain somatic capacity with rest or treatment.
3. AESOMATIC
You do not possess a somatic channel.
This is a structural condition, not a temporary setback.
Aesomatics:
- Operate entirely without conjured form
- Express presence through force, resonance, or environmental manipulation
- Retain full legal personhood
- May perform mechanical-override possession (sensory-blind, high-risk)
Aesomatic Concordants must be treated with the same respect and autonomy as somatic spirits. Absence of conjurance is not absence of identity.
A NOTE ON EMPLOYMENT & SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS
Your manifestation state does not determine your social worth—only the form through which you interact with the Living Grid. Conjurance sensitivity, energy demand, and manifestation behavior all vary naturally between Somatic, Aniconic, and Aesomatic spirits.
Certain workplaces may offer specialized accommodations or stabilization environments depending on your current state.

WHAT IS CONJURANCE?
Conjurance (Uuthraen: kon'jurant, "to draw oneself through") is the self-initiated act of manifestation performed by a spirit possessing autonomous pattern integrity.
In practical terms: You call yourself into being. No external summoner. No binding circle. No anchor required.
You traverse the veil voluntarily, making yourself visible, audible, or tactile within the Living Grid through your own volition.
Key Characteristics:
- Autonomous: Initiated by the spirit alone
- Voluntary: Cannot be forced or coerced
- Regulated: Must occur within licensed resonance zones
- Sustainable: Requires stable pattern integrity
By 127 PM, conjurance is not considered supernatural, criminal, or anomalous. It is a basic civic competency—comparable to speech, mobility, or legal signature among the living.
YOUR LEGAL STANDING
Under NUN Charter §9.3: Self-Mobilization Rights, conjurance is recognized as a protected ability for all registered Concordant spirits.
What This Means:
✓ You may manifest freely within designated public resonance zones
✓ Employment contracts cannot prohibit self-manifestation
✓ Housing agreements must accommodate conjurance protocols
✓ Transit systems are required to provide manifestation accessibility
What Remains Prohibited:
✗ Forced conjuring of another spirit (Class B felony)
✗ Manifestation in restricted ectoplasmic dead zones
✗ Unauthorized conjurance within private residential spaces
✗ Pattern disruption of other manifesting entities
Remember: While conjurance is your right, conjuring (the external forcing of manifestation) remains a serious crime under Unauthorized Summoning Statutes.
SOCIAL & CIVIC EXPECTATIONS
Approximately 83% of Concordant spirits maintain active conjurance stability. This ability serves as a fundamental marker of independence within postmortal society.
Why Conjurance Matters:
Employment: Most positions require self-manifestation capability. Spirits unable to conjure independently may be limited to passive labor contracts or proxy work arrangements.
Residency: Independent housing agreements assume conjurance competency. Spirits requiring external summoners often need custodial accommodations.
Transit: Vale Metro, Harbinger Rail, and other public systems operate on self-manifestation protocols. Dependent spirits must arrange specialized transport.
Social Recognition: The ability to conjure oneself is widely regarded as evidence of selfhood—a demonstration that you possess sufficient pattern cohesion to claim space in the world.
Cultural Context:
While conjurance is statistically common, its absence carries social weight. Terms like "called ghost" or "summoned type" are considered deeply demeaning, implying loss of agency or pattern degradation.

DEPENDENT MANIFESTATION SYNDROME (DMS)
Some spirits experience difficulty with conjurance due to pattern instability, trauma fragmentation, or insufficient energy reserves. This condition is clinically recognized as Dependent Manifestation Syndrome.

This Is Not Your Fault:

Stable Conjurant
- Reliable conjurance with minor support needs
- May require rest periods or energy supplementation
- Most employment accessible
Freelance Conjurant
- Inconsistent manifestation ability
- Periodic assessment required
- Some civic accommodations necessary
Dormant Manifester
- Currently unable to self-conjure
- Requires external summoning assistance
- Eligible for therapeutic intervention
Bound
- Cannot manifest without direct summoning
- Custodial oversight recommended

Status reviews occur annually. Pattern improvement can result in reclassification.
CORPORATE & EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATIONS
Vale Necrotech and similar corporations have developed infrastructure supporting conjurance in workplace environments. Most facilities maintain stabilized manifestation fields, allowing Concordant employees to commute and operate independently.
Know Your Rights:
- Employers cannot restrict your ability to conjure yourself during breaks
