Types of Planets
Was wondering what you're take on types of planets that are regularly colonised or used by the different factions. Are some colonised as they are in the Goldilocks Zone? Are some, like gas giants mined for gases, for example. Thought it might be something worth looking into. Either that or you've already done that, and me being a a complete noob & overlooking that part.
The majority of the planets colonized by the different factions are in the Goldilocks Zone, but outposts on more hostile planets, whether mining, scientific or housing are very often outside this zone. As for the gas, even if some present in the atmosphere of the gaseous giants are exploited by industry, their exploitation is impossible. Indeed, most gas giants are very massive and the gravity that reigns in the upper layers of their atmosphere is too strong for most spacecraft.
