X27 Species

The X27 are a silicon-based hivemind that resembles living metal. Their homeworld lost in ages past, they journeyed to various systems at sub-luminal speeds in search of a new home. They learn through assimilating other objects, and seem to communicate using Holzman waves, though due to their hiveminded nature lack a conventional language. Despite being biologically (if such a term applies to silicoid species) capable of mimicking technologies normally reserved for advanced space fairing species, they seem to be without fold travel and are actually fairly technologically primitive.
They lack a proper name for themselves, their name being derived from first being encountered in NU-X27
