Masala-Class Warsphere

The Masala-class Warsphere is battlecruiser in service of the Kambuchka Continuance. Though a pre-first contact vessel, it is still relatively new, Kambuchka shipyards producing the vessel even as the Eris first arrived. This made the vessel easier to retrofit with technological advances gifted by the Agilean Constitutional Empire.   The Masala-class was developed as effectively a mobile defense platform. Large and heavily armed, while including support and carrying capacity, it is a jack-of-all trades sort of warship. It makes use of a set of hyperium fusion engines to be able to rapidly reinforce positions, and can even be used to transport both smaller and larger vessels. Because of the engines, the Masala is one of the few Kambuchka vessels where facing matters, as instead of equally spread weapons, most weapons are angled towards the fore, with secondary weapons meant more to keep enemy craft away from the engines.

Power Generation

The Masala derives its power from a pair of N-Way Fusion Reactorsrelying on Hyperium drawn from their home system's gas giants. The Kambuchka's refinement process of Hyperium is relatively crude, resulting in a less efficient implementation of the technology, however, it results in a form of neutrally charged particle which is utilized by Kambuchka weaponry.

Propulsion

While sporting a robust set of laser-induced fusion thrusters like other Kambuchka craft, the Masala boasts a set of ten Hyperium-Fusion Engines. These were specifically designed with the Masala in mind, making the Masala the fastest vessel in the Kambucka fleet.

Weapons & Armament

  • 1x KCA-SP-7 Positron Scatter Cannon: A positron cannon fires beams of positrons, the antimatter equivalent of electrons. When such a beam comes into contact with an object, the positrons and electrons annihilate each other, which in turn causes the target to break apart on a molecular level. A side effect of this process is a burst of highly lethal gamma radiation, which causes further damage. Due to this fact, these cannons are usually used only in space, since use of them inside an atmosphere would cause great damage to the surrounding area. Mounted in the center spherical section, the sphere can separate along its horizon to reveal the weapon. Systems built into the option section of the 'ring' can work to redirect the shot at unpredictable angles, or scatter the shot over a wide area to pepper smaller targets.
  • 48x KCA-G-71 225cm Mega-Particle Cannon: This weapon fires a focused beam of massive, high-velocity mega-particles, which cannot be deflected by magnetic fields and tears through any conventional armor material. To create the mega-particles, a cannon-toting vehicle must first gather particles from the vehicle's n-way fusion reactor. The particles are collected in a device called an energy condenser, where they are compressed in a high-density Holzman Field until they fuse into mega-particles. The performance of the mega-particle cannon is thus limited by the reactor's ability to produce these particles.
  • 472x 8-Tube Missile Pod: Deployed via opening the outer shells, these pods are launched from the craft before launching their missiles at the target, enabling it to attack from unpredictable angles.
  • 163x KCA-L-76 50mm Quad-Point Defence Laser: Arrayed across the vessel, these unremarkable laser turrets are used to fend off enemy light craft and missiles.
  • 4x KCA-G-88 117m Hyper-Mega-Particle Cannon (Optional): Some Masala's eschew their hangar capacity to instead mount a quartet of upscaled mega-particle cannons, integrated into the enlarged side sections of the ring. The hangar capacity is used up for additional fusion reactors and particle compressors.

Armor and defense

  • Hexaferrum Armor:Extracted from the rocky cores of their gas giants, this armor is highly resistant to kinetic attack.
  • Anti-Beam Coating: The technology coats multiple layers of high specific heat capacity material on top of the armour that evaporates in high temperature. It provides a type of sacrificial protection against any type of energy weapon. However, due to its nature of ablating when defending against great heat, ABC can only tolerate a few hits to the same spot.
