Dibarus

A duo of K-Class stars holding dominance over a quartet of planets. Two terrestrial, two gas. The rock closest to the stars a glassed surface of molten sand, while the furthest gas giant is unremarkable.   The inner gas giant is however absolutely enormous, it isn’t far off from being a brown dwarf in mass. The entire planet has a golden hue, is to due to its large amounts of hyper-dense deuterium, quickly nicknamed Hyperium. This is an exceedingly heavy hydrogen isotope, but properly harnessed, could be used in theoretical n-way fusion reactors. In essence, you have hit the star ship fuel gold mine.   That is not the only wonder in this system however. The golden gas giant is orbited by a series of ancient mining platforms. It seems someone else, at some time, also had tapped this system. The mining platforms are heavily damaged, both from random space debris but also seemingly from attack.   Similarly, the second terrestrial planet seems to have a refining facility, though it seems to have devastated from orbit. The planet, now lifeless, gives faint readings it was at one time more fertile, though was ravaged by some sort of biological agent.   It seems other life is indeed out there…and it wasn’t exactly happy to coexist with other life.
