Telvan Imperial Family
The Kur family is the family from which the Telvan Emperor is from and thus it is also known as the imperial family. The family is of the om’Lanbe caste and only marries those also of that Caste.
The family holds a lot of political power, through their political positions as emperors or high-ranking members of the royal court as well as through their wealth. The family has lots of wealth through tribute and lands that they control which they can use for important imperial events and building projects.
The family’s power is slightly limited through the presence of a royal court made up of scholars and administrators from aristocratic families that vie for control of the emperor and his court; however, the Emperor generally gets the final say and holds the most power.
Family History
The Kur Family is very important and ancient in the Telan empire and is considered the most sacred of bloodlines.
The current family head is Emperor Hetan Kur who is also the leader of the Telvan Empire. Emperor Hetan has many consorts, but his legal and highest-ranking wife is Empress Loshan. He also has many children, some from the empress, others from his other consorts and wives; the most notable of his children include crown Prince Yisal and Prince Taluk.
There are some debates surrounding who will succeed Emperor He’tan as his heir, with two main factions one who supports Prince Yisal and the other sporting Prince Taluk. Taluk is the firstborn son of the Emperor but was the son of a concubine and thus the younger son, Yisal, who was born to the empress was seen as more legitimate and made crown prince.
Currently, Crown Prince Yisal is the crown prince and is considered very secure in his position with the majority of the court supporting him. Prince Taluk was sent into the military to get him away from the capital and the court as well as to encourage some form of career path for him outside of government administration.
