Karsanians are a species native to the planet Karsa.
Physiology
Karsanians are a humanoid species that is quite similar to many other humanoid species. They tend to stand between five and six feet tall with most tending to be on the shorter end. They have five digits on each hand and foot and besides having opposable thumbs they also have apposable big toes which allow them to grip more with their feet, however in recent centuries this trait has begun to be less common.
They lack hair on their body and heads and have large craniums, slightly elongated compared to a human skull, with slight ridges along the sides and top of their head. Depending on the individual, the ridges may be naturally more exaggerated or they may be small and hardly visible.
Karsanians are known for being a very colorful species mostly due to their bright and colorful skin which comes in a wide variety of colors, ranging from bright ruby reds to dark vibrant blues and everything in between. They tend to have pastel coloring with brighter more saturated colors along the top of their head and along their back as well as a few other places. They also have spots and speckling on the face and shoulders around the same areas where their colors are more saturated. Each spot/speckle pattern is unique and can be used as a fingerprint.
Karsanians have dark grey or black eyes, often with a darker color for the iris and pupil of the eye; occasionally, people will be born with pale irises.
Karsanian ears are mostly internal with a ridge-like outer ear which is merged with the head ridges that go along the tops and sides of their head. Both their ears and the ridges are part of the Karsanian hearing system as the ridges allow vibrations to travel through the ridges to the internal ear.
Other Traits
Karsanians live very similar life spans to humans, and on average only live to be 90 to 100 years old. Karsanians develop slightly slower reaching full maturity and being considered to be adults when they are in their mid to late twenties.
