Jeren Station
The Jeren Station is a space station that is owned and maintained by the Galactic Coalition. It is a center for scientific and medical research, mostly focused on studying things only studyable at zero gravity. It is not the most famous research center, and the station is not that big when compared to other stations, but the people who work on the station still have a source of pride stemming from their work on the station.
The station is a territory of the Galactic Coalition but it can't be considered an independent member due to its small size, and all of the people living on the station retain their original citizenship.
It employs doctors and scientists to conduct the research as well as people for general maintenance on the ship; the majority of station employees are scientists and researchers, with a smaller portion of employees being repair and maintenance people. The people who are employed, and their families, are granted permission to live on the station.
Structure
The Station is located in space and is built with a rotating wheel design that spins and generates artificial gravity for the structure. The building has windows that face the outside space allowing those inside to look out at the galaxy.
There is a central hallway, running around the wheel, with different rooms on either side of the hallway. These rooms include residences, storage, laboratories, and common spaces. The station has a cantina where people can purchase drinks and food as well as socialize.
The station is also equipped with a small shuttle which is mainly used for maintenance and transporting supplies and people onto the station, although a docking port is more often used for the last two.
The space station has a greenhouse where plants and food are grown both for research and to add to the station's supplies. The greenhouse functions via aquaponics, with plants growing in water with the waste of fish and snails living in tanks providing the water and thus the plants with nutrients. Some of these greenhouses may be used for research rather than food, mostly studying the effects of zero gravity on plants, but the majority of the greenhouse is used for food production.
