Bionics

Bionics is the term used to describe the use of merging technology and medical knowledge on and in the human body.   Bionics can be divided into two different groups, medical bionics being bionics used for medical reasons and aesthetics and Enchancment bionics being non-necessary bionics that just add something to the person's pre-existing abilities.   Bionics are regulated and supervised by the Galactic Coalition as well as by different planetary governments.

Medical Bionics

The most common classification of Bionics are used to replace or repair destroyed or deteriorating body parts. They include prosthetic limbs and body parts as well as bionic or synthesized organs. They are deemed physically necessary for the patient's health or quality of life and are the kind with the most research and tend to be safer and easier to procure.   They can be customized somewhat. Mostly in shape and color of external prosthetics, but their basic functions of them tends to stay the same unless the patient requests otherwise.

Aesthetic & Enhancement Bionics

There are other Bionics that are deemed to be superficial and unnecessary. These are bionics that change physical appearance and abilities to a range outside of the person’s natural, or typical, abilities. This includes things as simple as changing eye color to more complicated things like extra limbs or enhanced senses.   These types of enhancements are heavily researched by scientists, and due to this they are relatively safer than other more dangerous enhancements however they are also heavily policed and restricted by governments which leads to back alley doctors performing unsafe procedures.   Many of the bionic procedures are just aesthetic-related, such as eye color-changing procedures, but some are enhancement-related, such as tools or extra limbs. These sorts of bionics are deemed not a medical necessity by professionals, and not all types have been certified for safety. Some of them are illegal, especially ones that are dangerous for the patient or those that are dangerous for the general public, like hidden weapons or tools that can be used to hack or smuggle.   One of the more common types of these enhancement bionics is one that can give people access to the Cyber Web without needing a holoscreen. Another common procedure is a hologram projector that allows the person to project a small hologram from their body, normally from their hands.
