Andirro, Forest Guardian
Andirro, the Forest Guardian is an ancient bronze dragon and the sworn protector of Fanatheas. He lairs in a large cave in the Horn of the East (an outcropping of the bluffs on the eastern coast). Those outside of Fanatheas believe the Forest Guardian to be simply a legend for Fanatheans to entertain themselves, but Fanatheans believe fiercely in its existence -- many of them have small shrines to the Forest Guardian in or near their homes, where they regularly pray and give offerings.
Andirro is a being of great curiosity and benevolence. He was a strong ally to Elduin the Eternal during his time on Sorrend, and remains allied and devoted to Neldite. Together the two beings safeguard life in Fanatheas, with the help of the Granddaughter of the First, Fayennore Silvergrove. Fayennore and Neldite herself are the only two beings who are aware for certain of Andirro's existence and location. Lady Nelanna Willowfen is a staunch believer in the Forest Guardian, but she has never personally encountered him.
Andirro is a being whose benevolence is matched only by his curiosity. Much like Neldite, he frequently assumes the form of other creatures and interacts with Fanatheans and passing ships. Some of his favourite forms are killer whales, horses, and shockingly ferrets. He has a great love for all creatures, but seems to particularly favour those of small size and is delighted by their unfamiliar ways. Small animals can often be found keeping him company in his cave lair, climbing all over his enormous body.
Over the centuries, Andirro has amassed a vast hoard of gold and gems, but he particularly favours strange and unique magic items.
