Freeport

Freeport is one of the largest independent and neutral space stations in the known space. Describing it as one space station is a grave understatement. The station really consists of three separate stations forming a humongous entity connected with transportation tubes going back and forth, dwarfing a medium sized moon on most planets.
Spaceships of all forms and sizes are usually docked or waiting to be docked at the largest tradehub in this part of the galaxy. If there is anything you need, Freeport is usually the place to go to get it. At a cost of course.
Freeport has grown so much over the last few hundred years that they have begun the construction of a 4th station about twice the size of the current ones. The plans include relocating the wealthiest inhabitants of the Hibitatus to the new station which has a larger dome and more space on the sunny side. Expected to be finished in less than 20 years.
Hibitatus The original space station. Now converted to a floating city with living quarters. Where the rich and famous live in the beautiful dome on top where as the poor live "down-below"; hidden underneath never to really see the sun.
The shipyard Often referred to as the docks by the travellers of space. Twin station of the Hibitatus. Originally stationed at the smaller gas giant in the same system, but later moved due to extreme radiation from the planet.
The Manufacturate Upgraded and in-system built giant factory. Converting gas from the gas giant below to solid state fuel for hyperspace travel. This unit also contains housing for the desperately poor workers.

Demographics

Almost all known races are present. The ever changing population makes it impossible to get accurate statistics. There is an estimate of about 25 % of the inhabitants being Human. And close to 20% being Ysoki.

Government

Each of the three humongous parts has its own government.
The docks The Shipyard / docks has its famous "Board of Captains" whenever there is a principle matter to be discussed all the captains currently docked to the station, or in orbit, are summoned and the collective Board of Captains make a ruling. This ruling is added to the principle laws of the station.
Habitatus The I1, most often refered to as the Habitatus is under direct control of the Board of Founders. The 21 founding families of the spacestation makes up the board.
The manufacturate The Manufacturate is in its own right a seperate station with a seperate ruling board. Tho in reality the 21 founding families own more than 80 % of the stocks and basically control this part of the station too.

Defences

The Battlefleet Sural calls Freeport its port of call. Mostly used for policing matters and small skirmishes. In addition all the captains with their own ships are required to defend the station in case of an emergency.
Three semi circles of gun and missile batteries constructed by Brortrav Ordnance Factories surround the station giving defensive aid when needed.

Industry & Trade

Mining from the gas giant Surali IV. Extensive trade brought to the station. The trading hub in this part of the galaxy.

Infrastructure

Each of the huge spacestations are connected with transportation tubes transporting personnel from one station to the other. Most of the management of the Manufacturate lives in the Habitatus and travel back and forth every day. The poorer classes live in heavily polluted living quarters of the factory.

The shipyard 100 sectors in total; 85 of those down below whilst the rest, sector 86 to 100 are located on the sunny side.
The Manufacturate 107 sectors. The sectors 1 to 89 being located down under; whilst sector 90 to 107 is located under the dome.
