Wyrmlings

Wyrmlings, also known as half-wyrms or half-wyvar, are a subspecies resulting from copulation between a wyvar and a human or elf. They are one of the rarest species to be found in the world.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wyrmlings have a drastically different anatomy depending on their parents' species.

Wyrmlings stemming from a wyvar father and a human or elf mother are smaller, often even deemed small in relation to the typical build of humans or elves, regardless of gender. They typically have an oval head shape, grow fewer scales and are often born with small and scaleless tails, if they are born with a tail at all. They rarely grow horns, and if they do they do not get big. They often have eyes with round pupils, and their eye colors range from bright yellow to black. As male wyvar genes are often less dominant than females and usually compliment them, male wyrmlings often possess female physical characteristics.

Wyrmlings stemming from a wyvar mother and a human or elf father are bigger on average, typically reaching a normal wyvar build. They have triangle shaped heads and are heavily covered in scales, which usually grow everywhere except for the abdominal area and the groin, as well as the face. They are typically born with tails and almost always grow horns after birth, which often fully develop. Their have slits for pupils and eye colors that range from shades of red over yellow to black.

Genetics and Reproduction

Wyrmlings are born infertile and are unable to reproduce.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Wyrmlings typically have an enhanced sense of smell, allowing them to track scents over several kilometers.

Wyrmlings with a wyvar mother also have an improved eyesight and are able to see in the dark.
