Rainbow Marsh
A vast wooded wetland near the Northern shore of Karnes. Home to an incredibly diverse ecology, ranging from the merely unusual to the magically inclined. The great lake at its heart is infused with a strange font of divine and arcane energies which radiate out through the waterways, suffusing the whole swamp. Its waters are so potent that it swarms with rainbow fish, fish that radiate multicolored light through transparent scales. Many of the other native species have also adapted to this power, ranging from sentient plants and reality-altering mushrooms to invisible drop-bears and water walking lizards the size of ponies.
While few Humans s make their home in the Rainbow Marsh, many non-human species have carved out a niche in its depths. The Grippli of Rainbow Marsh have formed a complex network of tribal villages, bound together by devotion to a local deity of nature, dreams and madness called the Rainbow Mother. The fringes of the forest are populated by tribes of lizardmen, gnolls and kobolds. Occasionally one or more of these tribes will engage in a short lived battle over territory but the campaigns are usually brief. The impingement of Theia logging efforts has upset this tenuous balance and the last 15 years have seen devastating warfare between the tribes.
Geography
The Rainbow Marsh is nearly impossible to chart for outsiders. Its internal waterways can shift dramatically during seasonal periods of rain and drought and the flourishing or failure or a copse of anchoring plantlife can send an entire section of the Marsh spiraling into a new configuration.
