Grandfather Winter

Grandfather Winter is a powerful lord of the The Fey and absolute ruler over his particular wintry demense within the realm of Faery. He was formerly a human boy but received the power of his adoptive father, the former Lord of Winter, upon the lord's death. Using his immense magical might and influence he became a sort of benevolent spirit of Winter cheer, blessing and protection. In his former life he was from the greater region in which Demra now sits and he maintains a particularly close watch over his former home. He also upholds the ancient charge of his Fey mantle to watch over the Seal of Fate, a massive tree in northern Ossia which helps seal away the dark Deity Tiamat.   Recently, the party had to rescue Grandfather Winter after the The Theia Commerce Group was successful in poisoning and weakening the Seal of Fate, allowing Tiamat to push dark, alternative iterations of Grandfather Winter into the world. These included the Barloff, a grinning and malicious trickster spirit, Jack Scratch, a devilish spirit of Fall and sacrificial fire, the Erlking, a bloodthirsty, violent warrior-god, Lord Winter, a cruel and implaccable spirit of icy death and Krampus, a horrifying creature of wintry death and punishment. With the aid of Grandfather Winter the party was able to defeat and banish these twisted nightmare reflections and restore Grandfather Winter to his place.   Grandfather Winter is unimaginably powerful, comparable with a high tier demigod or lesser Deity. He commands an uncountable horde of fey spirits that serve him as craftsmen, messengers, workers and warriors. He dedicates most of his power to spreading a protective and beneficial aura over humanoid settlements, protecting them from the worst of winter's dangers.
