Centapar/Trentapar

Dogma

Being the God of Focus and Magic, The Shattered God believes that anything can be achieved with preparation and determination with just a touch of Chaos. He awards those that use the cunning of great esteem with passage to The Moonlight Library. Those that seek great internal growth and the complete unification of one's flaws and strength may find themselves in the comfortable and peaceful sand of The Tranquil cove, receiving a lesson from the deity himself.   A warning, to those that destroy for the sake of it, or those that defile places of learning. The Two-faced God can just as easily punish as he can praise.

History

Trentapar and Centapar were once two individual gods, twin gods, soul bound. As children of Nona and the Absent Father, they each had their sphere of influence and power.   Trentapar was the God of Focus, of Meditation and Self Awareness. His beliefs were that to expect perfection from anyone but yourself was flawed and that you could only achieve perfection with mindfully gained and reflected upon experience. He was a lawful good god, whose domain was The Tranquil Cove, a set of seaside caves that hummed with the music of life and balance and was constantly lit with brilliant and invigorating noon light.   His brother, Centapar, was different. As the God of Chaos, Magic, and Knowledge, he believed that everything should be tried at least once to discover what the limits truly are. All experience was a good experience, to be recorded and expanded upon. He was a chaotic good god, and his domain, while ever-shifting, shifted within the parameters of testing and discovery. His plane was The Moonlight Library, a vast gothic building, cast forever in midnight moonlight. Within its walls, the bookcases were forever moving and shifting as knowledge grew and advanced.   It was this way until the Great Conflict. The twin brothers were crucial to the war, using their minds and skills to thwart the invasion of Prodromus and his ilk. It was Trentapar who told Alorna, his sister, what she had to sacrifice of herself to turn the tide. Centapar’s magic and ever-changing wards were what protected the planes as the plague children tried to force their way in. Once they discovered one way to break it, he would have another in place.   This war waged for an eon in the Place of the Forgotten, divine beings from both sides clashing. -- Centapar found himself on the battlefield much more often than his brother, as he had the power of the aether at his disposal to protect his siblings and comrades. This war had no end in sight, and the planes were suffering heavily as a result. Centapar watched as Prodromus would smack down divine beings only to have them brought back into battle by divine healing. As a great experimenter, he began to tinker with the idea of turning Prodromus’s divine healing back on himself. He spoke to his brother about this plan, and it became a point of contention between the two. Trentapar feared what that could mean for the rest of them if they could have it turned on them, while Centapar thought it the only end to the war. Trentapar refused his sibling the help he requested, turning his eyes from him to the battle at their doorstep.   His brothers disapproval never stopped him before, it would not do so now. Centapar began to collect the blood of Prodromus as it spilled forth in the battle. He would twist and shape it with magic, seeking a way to turn the healing back on itself. Without any other divine to test his results on, Centapar used his divine healing to see if it was possible to turn it back. For decades, nothing happened, much to his chagrin. That was until the Demigoddess of Plague was bore on the fields of battle. Vyress’s blood was different, tainted, and warped by the magic of Prodromus and Centapar saw in it what he had needed. Within a year, he had developed a way for his wounds to not heal. At least, for a short time. Within two years of the birth of Vyress, he was able to prevent his limbs from growing back for an extended time. It was then that he decided his plan was ready to move into action.   As the battle raged on, he gathered his resources and set about a plan to reduce The Destroyer to an invalid, at least long enough to lock him in his own plane.   During this time, Trentapar had known that his twin was up to something, but never understood what. Only that at times he would feel pains that he did not understand. He waved them off with his brother being in a battlefield. When he lost feeling in his arm for a year, he began to worry and sought his brother out, but by the time he was found, the numbness had gone, and his brother had his arm soundly in place.   At the cusp of the Great Conflict, Centapar entered the battlefield with a wand whose only purpose was to deliver the spell to Prodromus. Using his spells that he’d perfected in getting close to The Plaguelord, he moved past him, tucking himself behind. It felt like it was too easy, and Centapar felt he should be worried, but he knew he had planned this well. Administering the spell to Prodromus, he moved to make his exodus. Except, he did not land where he expected.   Unbeknownst to the Prime Divine, someone else had been watching his progress very carefully.   ---   Trentapar noticed when the tide changed; when the Great Conflict had a shimmering light of an end. The plague children faltered and stayed down as they fell. Prodromus bled in great pools and bursts. It was time to push him back. Calling for the Prime Divines to focus on him, Trentapar navigated them successfully opening a portal to the Putrid Palace and forcing Prodromus, Vyress, and their children back to their own plane.   The war was won, but Trentapar would have no time to celebrate. A seething writhing pain, unlike any other, had started to crawl through his limbs. It was his sister, Alorna, no longer Prime but still Divine, who rushed to him first. The tenderness and warmth of her were not able to push past the pain immobilizing the God of Focus.   With great skill and restraint, he did only what he knew to do, which was to focus internally to determine the source. To the rest of the Divines, he’d gone into a stupor from pain, something new to the Divines, but he’d truly detached from the physical form he held. In his mind’s eye, he could sense where the pain came from and his heart ached. The soulbond between him and his brother was fraying, twisting, and knotting. Something was happening to Centapar.   When he rose to his form, he was able to gasp out that they needed to find Centapar, that something was happening to him, and by proxy him. It was Alystra, the Goddess of Pain who was able to stop the sensation in the Prime Divine. Trentapar reached out for his brother through the bond and the aether, seeking his signature. It was then that he discovered that Centapar was no longer in the Place of the Forgotten but in The Void.   -- Centapar had not been prepared for this hijack of his teleportation, so he was disoriented on his landing. He’d dropped his scepter of pain as he sought to orient himself. Around him, there was no light, no sound, nothing by silence and darkness. He knew instantly where he was. The Void, the plane of Sinstram, The God of Madness. When he came face to face with the divine, he knew that he was not summoned for a cup of tea. Sinistram had plucked the scepter from the nothingness and now pointed it at Centapar. Casting the spell on Centapar, The Mad God struck him with his cane, smiling in delight. “This will do well, the Void can take you now...” Pain was only the beginning of what Sinistram planned for him, it seemed.   -- By the time The Divines made it through the safeguards of the Void, Trentapar was in a massive frenzy of agony. Even Alystra’s powers could not subdue the pain. He felt as if he were being torn asunder from the inside out.   It was Nona, The Weaver of All, that opened the Void and pulled both Divines out. Sinistram and what was left of Centapar. Nona pulled from Sinistram the Scepter, eyeing him with disgust as Alorna and the others sought to save Centapar. With the power of the wand, Sinistram has diffused all of Centapar’s divine healing, which meant The Void could unravel him into nothingness. It was only his soulbond to Trentapar that had kept him on this plane of existence. Once Nona discovered the truth from Sinistram’s mad lips, she unwove the wand from being. No argument was accepted, it was too dangerous to exist. It was with sadness that Nona looked to her son Trentapar. She rarely left these decisions in the hands of others, but these two were bound by the cord of Divinity. “What are you willing to give to save your brother? Do you wish to save him, or do I unmake him?” There was an immediate hush. The All Mother had never unmade a Divine before. Trentapar in his pain made to move to his brother, grim determination clear in his eyes. “We are one, either we are saved together or unmake us both.” Nona nodded. Pulling from the universe, she brought forth the threads of making, the same threads she had woven Biance and the Wilderbeast from, and brought her two sons together. “You will give up the law for this, for this goes against the laws of nature. You will be whole as one, but the mind as two.” With these words she brought the two gods together, blending their essence and sewing them; the remnants of one to the whole body of the other. She knotted the threads around the soul bond, repairing it entirely.   From this soul weaving was born the Demigoddess of second chances, Contingency.   From there on out, the twin gods were known as Trentapar/Centapar, The Shattered God.

Appearance

This divine takes on two vastly different forms depending on which twin is at the fore.   Trentapar, The God of Focus and Self Discovery, appears as a Halfling. With one eye blue and one eye green, he has a wise look about him though he often appears as a young one. His hair is often in a tight knot at the top and he goes nowhere without a brilliant Violet Praying Mantis on his shoulder. He wears simple clothing, like a peasant, and speaks softly and respectfully. Often he is meditating when he meets mortals and encourages them to join him.   Centapar, The God of Magic, Chaos, and Knowledge appears as a half-elf. What the other half is, changes from time to time. He also has one blue eye and one green, but his expression is mischievous and inquisitive, like a mad wizard who has discovered something. He rides an Elemental Air Drake and dresses like a scholar who has blown himself up a few times. His speech is loud and branches into many topics before getting to the task at hand.

Relationships

Before the merge of the twin gods, each had a relationship with their sister, Alorna, the HearthGoddess. As a merged god, they still have a great fondness for her and will share any night with her, should she request.   From the relationship with Trentapar, the Twin Goddesses, Elira, and Eurydice were born. The birth of the twin divines brought him great joy and he bestowed upon both of them his powers of reasoning. He reveled in how much they were like his brother and him, both similar but different enough that they would each have their own domain. From the relationship with Centapar, Corune Pragmas was born. Corune was the God of Marriage, Love, and the Harvest. Centapar was not as impressed with his son as his brother was with his daughters and gave him little of his time. Corune was too much like his mother and Centapar resented that the union did not come out as well as his brothers. He did gift him with the knowledge of cultivation and bending the land to him, only to prove to Alorna that he could be as good as his brother.   Since the merging of the Twin gods, Centapar has tried to court Kyralana, but she rebukes him at every turn.   At the merging, they brought into being the Demigoddess, Contingency. She is the divine of second chances, back up plans, and flying by the seat of your trousers. She is less than pleased with her name choice and prefers to go by Conny.   Providence   Servants     Avatars           Church of The Twinned God Worshipers and Clergy     Faithful     Temples and Shrines     Holy Text     Holidays     Organizations       Favored Animals
