Talan'dae

The Eorame created Talan'dae as the first life-world in the multiverse. It comprises the outer section of the planet Solendar. Initially every continent held a single biome each; however, as the War of Angels progressed, and continents were destroyed by the angels or tainted by the enormous amounts of magic, those habitats that had been destroyed were carefully transferred to Atalana, the continent that angels avoided fighting in, as it was the birthplaces of the sentient species they created.   Few battles were fought in Talan'dae, though some very important, like the clash between Solut and the Ark'angelis, but for the most part the continent remained untouched. Because of this, after the War of Angels the races that lived on the continent were able to survive, even though all of the other continents had been destroyed.   The only habitable continet left of Talan'dae is Atalana. Atalana hosts three of the five sentient species and many other species. With the power and time that they had left after the war, the Eorame attempted to make Atalana more suitable to varied species, resulting in many ecosystems and animals. For the most part, the non-sentient life forms do not posses any magic; there are, however, exceptions to this. Look below for a more information on magical animals.   The rest of Talan'dae, from what is known of the residents of Atalana, is simply a wasteland of magical radiation. Beyond the Everhigh Mountains in northern Atalana is a massive crater, where the Eorame banished the majority of the Koltoros to Ak'arundul with an explosion that literally rocked the planet. Very little lives in the interior of the crater, and the people that venture there often end up dying from the magical radiation that still permeates the area. No one has successfully crossed the crater, and none have crossed any of the oceans surrounding Atalana either, so the best guess is that the rest of the planet resembles the crater.

Fauna & Flora

There are a few magical species that are non-sentient. Some of these include: hellhounds, mistwraiths, illuia, and firewings.   Hellhounds are native to the highlands of Arundelli. In appearance they are large dark wolves. They stand between four and a half and five feet at the shoulder, and weigh anywhere from one hundred and forty to two hundred pounds. They hunt in packs, hunting everything from deer, to moose, to bears and people. Their size and numbers put them at the top of the food chain. Unlike normal wolves, hellhounds posses dark gaya. The possession of gaya improves the hellhounds physical abilities, making them much stronger than a regular wolf of that size would be. Although they cannot use their magic with real thought, they instinctively use it to make themselves harder to detect, especially intelligent hounds can even use their magic to jump through nearby shadows.   Mistwraiths reside all over Atalana, and even the other continents of Talan'dae. They are large, vaguely humanoid shapes. Unlike hellhounds, they are not natural creatures affected by magic, rather they come about when water and air gaya combine in storms, or if the gaya has been sitting together for a while. Mistwraiths that form in Atalana are quite docile and weak compared to the ones that form in other continents. The magical radiation in other continents makes the mistwraiths that form there to be quite malicious and incredibly powerful. With the magical radiation increasing their power, they are powerful enough to create storms and change the weather, some even rival the power of the Ko'Eoltos, the weakest of angels. Some mistwraiths will fuse with wisps, which are not magical creatures, but rather a small amount of essence remaining from one of the Eorame or Koltoros. These combinations can be deadly, matching power with whatever small amount of personality or goals the wisp contains. These combinations of creatures are known as wissem (both singular and plural).   Illuia is a plant native to Crater of Ukaros. Because of the amount of power Ukaros' released upon her death, the surrounding area was permanently affected. The illuia plant was made directly from Ukaros' desire to heal the land she had destroyed, and so its innate property is healing. Being one of the most common plants in and around the crater, illuia is a major export of Kurenteel. Many medicines are created from the plant and its easily recognizable leaves allow it to be found rather easily. Its healing abilities are second to none, with potent medicines and potions made from the plant increasing the speed of recovery up to nearly six times as fast. It is considered a sacred flower by the Kurenteel.
