Isegayami

General

While generally known as magic, isegayami is the structure of magic. It was the gifts given to the Eorame by Eoldyn. Originally only containing powers of Life and Creation, isegayami underwent fundamental changes during the War of Angels, during which lesser powers of Death and Ruin were formed. In the lesser races these broke down further, and it became rare for any individual to posses all four Gifts. Those who were granted the ability to use isegayami were usually thought of to be favored by the gods, though in some regions those who could wield magic were shunned as devils.   Ones capacity for isegayami generally has to do with how much one is born with, and how often they use it when young. Generally speaking, the more one uses, and the more genetically pure they are, the more magical power and magical attributes one possesses. With increased power and attributes, the ways in which an individual can use isegayami increase drastically.   Isegayami, which is the ability to warp the world to match one's desires, is a fairly common ability, though various races have more or fewer individuals who can wield. Even though a decent percentage of the population can use isegayami, most can only use it for household tasks. It is fairly rare for an individual to posses any kind of power to speak of. In those rare cases, individuals can do incredible things, creating and altering the world as they please, to a certain extent. Those who do posses any kind of isegayami are known is hek'isega.   Although the use of isegayami is fairly instinctual, there is an orderly structure for the use of it. For magic to be used, there are several pieces that come in to play. The three factors that constitute an individuals isegayami ability is their magical attribute or attributes; their isegaya, which is the life force that constitutes the raw power of an individuals potential; and a persons own mental training.
Well, I can't tell ya for sure how magic works. Alls I know is the gods gave us something great, lets us have better crops ya know? It's quite a pretty thing though, I can tell you that much.

Gaya Attributes

First is a persons magical attribute. In isegayami, there are eight common attributes. These are: earth, air, fire, water, energy, light, spirit, dark. These eight attributes combine to form an additional thirty-four attributes, and are often refered to as gaya. The gaya are split into two main groups, elemental and ethereal. While there are some redundancies, each attribute and sub attribute is fairly unique, and are made more unique by the way that an individual uses their magic.   The elemental gaya are generally considered the most useful for day to day work, and tend to be seen as mundane, especially when compared to the ratio of elemental to ethereal gaya possessors. Although the majority of hek'isega posses elemental gaya, they are still sought after as they abilites lighten the load in nearly any work setting.   Earth - Being one of the elemental gaya, earth manipulation is one of the easy to see. Although it is called earth, it deals mostly with minerals and metals. Earth gaya allows one to change and reshape the landscape to suit their needs, and can warp and move metals and minerals. This can be used to construct primitive structures, or as an offensive and defensive weapons in battle.   Air - is also one of the elemental gaya, though it is harder to see. Air gaya allows one to manipulate the gases, no matter what they may be. It can be used to shift air densities, create air currents, and change air composition. Although it does not necessarily have the raw power that other gaya have, using the air attribute requires great skill and finesse. One can use blasts of air to attack, strong air currents and high densities to fly or move objects, or change composition to fuel or kill fires, as well as people.   Fire - by far the most flamboyant of the elemental gaya, fire is the easiest to see. Fire gaya can be hard to control, as it does not have quite as much of a physical shape or form as the other elemental gaya; however, those who do gain control over their fire gaya posses incredible abilities. It can be used as huge blasts of fire or precise blades of flame. It is also one of, if not the easiest to merge with other gaya.   Water - perhaps the most common of the elemental gaya, the beautiful patterns of water gaya are beautiful to see. Although it is called water, the water gaya is actually able to control light and simple liquids. This includes such things as water or oils, and even some bodily fluids. Water gaya can be challenging to learn, since liquids have no concrete form and are easy to lose their shape. Depending on the situation this property may also aid the user.   The ethereal gaya are much more rare than the elemental gaya, with only about one out of every sixty tikeshi possessing an ethereal gaya. Rarer still are those who wield any kind of power to speak of. Those granted with etheral gaya are seen as having divine favor, and usually jump high in society. The ethereal gaya also manifest themselves on the users skin.   Energy - makes itself known as varying shades and intensities of blue markings on the skin. Energy gaya allows one to manipulate the energy around them. This grants one the ability to increase or decrease the temperature of flames, air, or other materials, or the direction and intensity of electricity near them. In addition it can be used to increase or decrease the speed of a specific person or object.   Light - appears as white fractals covering the skin. Although very simple, light gaya allows an individual to sense, distort, and create light all over the electromagnetic spectrum. Light gaya is almost always accompanied by a Tekami of some kind, especially if the user possesses both light and spirit gaya.   Spirit - are seen as a mix of purple swirls and stripes on the skin. Spirit gaya grants one easy access to other realms, and can be used to manipulate the thoughts, desires, and emotions of others. Because of this spirit hek'isega tend to have a very profound understanding of peoples motives and emotions, but can also be incredibly manipulative. It can also be used for animaiton of non-living objects. Spirit gaya tends to manifest by itself, but can be incredibly powerful when paired with other gaya.   Dark - can be mistaken for tattoos, with its black coloring and geometric patterns on the skin. Shadows are the natural place for those who posses dark gaya, as it allows one to manipulate shadows, and in some cases even travel in them. It can also be used to create unnatural darkness that can envelope objects, people, gaya, or other things in order to subdue or restrain them.
We know not why individuals receive their specific gaya. Some guess that it may be hereditary, but this is only a theory. All that we do know is that there are the eight principal gaya, which combine to give us untold numbers of nuanced powers. Perhaps one day in the future we shall have answers for these magical secrets, but for now we must study the gods gift to us.

Isegaya

Isegaya, which is a persons life force, constitutes how much actual power an individual possesses. This power ranges from person to person, and within each person they can have differing amounts of isegaya for use for separate gaya. Although it seems that the amount of raw power is mainly derived form ones family lines, it is also known that those who use magic more when they are young will develop a larger pool of isegaya to draw upon. Additionally isegaya reserves can be situational. Generally speaking, when one is feeling strong emotions, their isegaya reserves increase, dramatically so in certain situations (It was noted that one of the Godkillers only gained that power when one of their dying loved ones wanted to see a clear sky, he felt so strongly that he banished the storm that was raging, allowing his friend to die with a blue sky overhead). It is thought that ones isegaya grows exponentially during childhood, and keeps expanding at a slower rate for the rest of ones life.   In addition to granting a user magical powers, isegayami also grants increased physical abilities. Increased stamina, faster reflexes, and greater strength accompany those who posses gaya.

Manifestation

Most isegayami does not give much in tell-tale signs when an individual is activating their powers; however, to any who posses a Tekami or have any kind of magical training, it is easy to sense the presence of magic being used. Though in areas of large magical concentration, isegayami can be seen by the naked eye. It usually appears as hallucinations, or, in rare cases, creatures and objects may form shortly, then dissipate if their connection to magic is weakened or severed.   In addition, prolonged or common use of ethereal isegayami leaves traces of gaya on the skin, visible as patterns unique to both the gaya and user themselves. It is seen as desirable in high society to have these "tikeshi tattoos," but in battle they are often unwanted, as it shows the enemy ones power.   Although it is used in this manner less often, one condense their gaya into a physical form. This is known as gaya'algaya. Because it is physical, this form of gaya can be still used even after the caster has left the vicinity. It can also be used to activate spells at a later time. This allows for a huge boost in technological advances, for example, one can use air and fire or energy gaya to create a piece of clothing that keeps the wearer at a specific temperature, or by combining air and gravity gaya (which is a combination of dark and energy) an arrow can be shot that neither falls from gravity or slows from air resistance. However, gaya'algaya is not an infinite amount, it is comprised of exactly how much gaya the caster or casters put into their creation, and will run out when the power placed inside runs out.

Localization

The only three places where isegayami is truly altered is the Crater of Ukaros, Pool of Tenanya, and the Crown of the Ark'angellis.    At the Crater of Ukaros, the residual life force of Ukaros fuels any isegayami used, allowing a user to complete feats far past their ordinary abilities. However, because the life force of the Eorame still inhabits the area, mild though it may be, often alters the course of any spell that is cast. Destructive and chaotic spells are far less effective, and healing and spells of creation are far stronger.   The Pool of Tenanya contains the most potent energy density of any magical region. In this region, it is nearly impossible to control any kind of magic. Whenever one attempts to use spells, it goes completely awry. In addition, emotions often become chaotic, and memories muddled and distorted. However, any if anyone drinks the liquid from the lake, there is a large possibility of boosting ones magic power.   The final place of magical irregularity is the Crown of the Ark'angellis, the location of Soluts' ambush and defeat. Because of the trap set by the Ark'angellis, anyone who wanders into the Crown is cut off from their magic. The effect is not lasting, but anyone who is born in the midst of the five peaks is born without any magical ability whatsoever.
Over the years, many prominent schools of isegayami have appeared. The most notable are Izu'Tenanya, which lies on the bank of the Pool of Tenanya, the Lecure University of Sez'Attar, in the My'Kant state of Sez'Attar,
