Chapter 6: 'Til Death Do Us Part

Lupe discovers the dark truth behind Sera's coma and Vivian's return. Amon attempts to save the Bishara twins and meets a vengeful face from his past.
Amon, having received some guidance from Ma'at, decides to take Ristin and Lupe along to rescue Kit's brother. Lupe, saying goodbye to Sera before leaving, instead discovers that she is being slowly devoured by Vivian. He confronts and severs the connection, and Vivian attacks and tries to subdue him. In the effort, a hole was blasted in the upper floor of the inn. After knocking Lupe unconscious and before Vivian could abscond with him, Sera stops time and teleports them both away and Vivian, chased off by Marut and Sofia, screams in rage and disappears into the night.
Amon meets the mysterious stranger who kidnapped Kit's brother and manages a daring rescue of the both of them via eagle-back away into the city. Ristin disappears in the confrontation and does not return home to the inn that night.
That night, Sera watches over Lupe. The following morning, he tucks her in to sleep and brings her breakfast by way of a thank you. Amon heals Manu's scars and endures a spat between the siblings, encouraging them to stay where it is safe. Sofia looks for Ristin about the inn but can't find him. She apologizes to Maleeka and invites both her and Kalina to be her friend. Arbane has a subtle contest with Kalina over archery practice, and the two talk about the group and Sammael.
That afternoon, working with Maleeka, Lupe and Sera are able to have a breakthrough and awaken some of her latent capacity for psionics. In the midst of which, Lupe accidentally dominates Maleeka. Afterwards, Sera is ecstatic.
That night, Lupe takes Sera out to enjoy food and the theatre. It is the time of her life, exposed to the culture. On the walk home, they are almost accosted by Captain Cam Ozker. Back at the inn, Sera kisses Lupe on the cheek before heading to bed. The next morning, Lupe catches her apparently brushing her hair out and starting to take some interest in her appearance and bearing as a mortal, physical creature.
That morning, Lupe and Sera check on Maleeka's mind again and work to teach her focus and control to the point where she can now communicate telepathically, though it gives her a serious headache.
