Chapter 5: Something Wicked this Way Comes

Arbane learns the identity of the officer from the raid, and takes Lurch on for some charity work in the underground. Amon investigates Kit Bishara's captive brother. Lupe finds Vivian in the In Between.
The morning of the 8th proceeds fairly uneventfully, with the group dealing with their various concerns. Arbane asks Lurch along with him to the underground as a possible stand-in for him when he's not there, to serve the unfortunates in his stead. Shaw and Lurch spend some time helping out there while Lupe works with Maleeka to teach her discipline and Sofia watches. Amon meditates on the "precious" thing that Kit has being ransomed against her and has a vision of it being an imprisoned young man nearby in Skyhill Gardens.
The next day, Arbane learns the identity of the brutal officer from the raid: Captain Cam Ozker. Known for his bloodthirst during the war and his local crackdowns, Myr offers to bring him any more information he might desire. Meanwhile, Amon goes looking for the captive from his vision and tracks him to a warehouse in Skyhill Gardens. Feeling the stink of Sekhmet's influence in the area, he decides to return to the Plain Cup and inform the others.
That night, Lupe has Sera help him seek out Vivian again and, though she warns him against it, he finds a disoriented Vivian in an In Between realm. Desperate, he manages to rip open a gateway and pull her through into the mortal plane of existence. Discovering some psychic barriers in her mind, they have a desperate effort to make sure she's alive and healthy before Lupe spends the rest of the night with her. Sera, unsure of the negative feelings that well up inside her at the sight, departs.
The next morning, Lupe slips away to find Sera but she is not in her room. Reaching out psychically, he locates her on the roof of the inn, but she seems upset and uninterested in talking to him. Returning to Vivian, he tries to help her get something in her stomach, but she throws all of it up. Taking her down to the kitchen, they have a tearful reunion with Sofia and an introduction to Lurch. Lurch offers Vivian breakfast and as Lupe tries to speak with Sera again, Vivian seems to be faking interest in the food. Lupe then goes about reaching Sera on the roof and Vivian asks to accompany him. He gives her lead, thinking she'll deal with the "young woman" far better than he and she does. Vivian, approaches her and attempts to console the younger woman. Sera is aloof. When Vivian shakes her hand in introduction, Lupe whispers something chiding in her mind and Sera gets angry, attempting to teleport away from both of them. The effort is immediately absorbed by Vivian, however, and the resultant effort to save Sera is as well. Sera falls off the roof to break her leg and go unconscious. The group manages to heal her and the leg, and carries her off to her room. Lupe spends the rest of his day buying clothes for Vivian and getting her settled in before returning to conduct Maleeka's lessons.
