Aurelie was a Mismatean orphan who at a young age (3886, 10) she was given over to the military for biological experimentation. The result was that she developed the peculiar ability to change form at will, a feat that the scientists involved were not able to reproduce with any of their other test subjects. Aurelie was taken by the military and slated to become one of the elite operatives, the Arcanii. For nearly a decade, she was trained in the arts of assassination, sabotage, espionage, and seduction, including operations against local insurgents within the Empire. When she was chronologically 23 (3899), she was given over to Ristin Morisil, a senior Arcanius, for field training in foreign espionage. He mentored her for a year, infiltrating the Seraphiim Dominion. During that time, they developed a casual romantic relationship that persisted after their partnership ended over the following year 3901 until the start of the Seraphi-Mismatean War. After the start of the war, they wed in secret and continued with their assignments, intersecting where possible. Another two years into the war (3903), and they were discovered by Aurelie's handler, Sublegate Gaius Martius, who blackmailed Aurelie into faking her own death to spare Ristin's life via his lieutenant, Senior Tribune, Quintus Herodotus. They betrayed Aurelie and attacked Ristin, leaving him for dead. When Aurelie found out, she broke free and fled the Empire entirely. Ristin, saved by Sammael, hunted down and killed Herodotus in revenge.
