Aliya Bagheri

Aliya Bagheri (a.k.a. Indivar Koule)

Aliya was born to Seraphi parents of modest means in Raja. She had a rather pleasant, idyllic childhood. She was well-educated, considered very bright and proper and clever. The only stain on her social image was falling in love with a miller's son, Indivar Koule, who she promised to marry. Before she could, he was conscripted into the Seraphi military under the new law and killed in battle only five months thereafter (3904). Aliya became angry, and started engaging in minor political protest movements, organizing groups of like-minded individuals. Eventually, they upgraded to small-scale sabotage.   After a year or so of doing little beyond causing minor inconveniences, she was approached by an old man (the Gray Man), who offered to help her get revenge on the Seraphi government, and Seraphus. She agreed and they formed a partnership, creating the Red Letter Rebels and expanding their cells and influence over most of the Dominion. They created the persona of Indivar Koule, named for her dead love, a faceless and amorphous leader, the first time Aliya was mortally wounded in a raid. She begged the old man to save her so that she could continue pursuing vengeance. He reincarnated her as a different elven woman, and she assumed a new face for Koule. The next time, she told the old man to kill and resurrect her as someone else. And so Indivar Koule became an immortal ghost.   In Raja, she wanted to visit home for a time, and visit some vengeance and embarrassment upon the Inquisitors, who had recently had success in dismantling her network elsewhere. The captain was an ambitious man tasked with dismantling the network and she lured him there by increasing activity. He was killed in the Raja ambush, and so was she. Afterwards, the old man stole her corpse and resurrected her.
