Cavaede

The Cavaede control Cavae, the southern subcontinent of Eaben. They have been nomads for centuries, wandering the same area, following the same herds, stopping at the same winter, summer, fishing and other specialized camps.   Cavaeden "camps" are practically small cities, as generations of small improvements have created impressive structures. They are named for some of their original purposes. There are several brewery camps where a clan will stop for a month or so to brew beer. Each clan has their own methods and times of year when they'll stop, and trade is brisk between clans. There are camps that are more geared to forging or metalwork, where old weapons are recycled into new. The economy of the Cavaeden is fairly circular, they use very little that isn't renewable or recycled, and tend to small families. If a clan seems to be growing too much or holding a camp for too long, there is the possibility of war to control their growth and power.   This is an ancient culture that is dedicated to tradition, sustainable practice, movement, and ritual. They are the oldest culture on Eaben and possibly in the world. According to their oldest stories, they are those who survived the fall of a great civilization, consumed by it's own hubris and greed. Signs of this civilization abound in Cavae. There are cities buried beneath the plains and ancient mines in the hills. The Caveade mine and recycle this ancient technology.   Technically, Cavae is part of the Kingdom of Ashes, and the Cavaeden do trade with Ashes. Auriane Chopin's uncle, Frederic Chopin , is one of the ambassadors between Ashes and the Cavaeden clans.
