Objective

With the city of Horsa falling to darkness, the invaders continued to push northward, and are in position to retake the Moonwell from the few Horsians that are left to protect it. The purpose of this multi-group coordinated mission is to retake the Moonwell, in coordination with Archdruid Fenster and Caer Callidyrr, on behalf of Chauntea and Silvanus. Our hope is that Archdruid Fenster will be better able to help secure it against attack, and for it to become a place of great natural abundance and life; to hopefully help the area recover from the damage that has been sustained.

Observations

  • Fenster was moved by the memorial tree, and the sacrifices we have made by the Camp
  • We all worked to dig up the tree, and and load it onto a makeshift transportation device with many horses, and wagons tied together
  • Traveling south along the path, we suddenly were covered by unnatural clouds, and are surrounded by shadow
  • A man suddenly appears in front of us in dirty leathers and a makeshift harp. Lightning flashes and he disappears, another lightning flashes and a man with two daggers appears.
  • This man follows the strategy of runs and hides, appears and attacks, and then hides and runs again. He was also able to banish Aceso briefly.
  • During this time, the music of the bard started to get louder and louder; the memorial tree slowly began to wither and dies
  • During our fight, something summoned some sort of shadow clones of Ace and Ralla
  • We continued further south, and then about 10-15 minutes east to a circle of standing stones. During this time we healed the tree, and were able to restore it back to it's original splendor
  • The capital soldiers were at the stone circle, and were ready to erect and plant the tree. It seemed to connect to the ground and then blossomed and became vibrant. Fenster emerged from the tree, and told us to go while he will prepared his ritual.
  • As we approached, we saw Commander Bradley in the center of the Moonwell with 8 Horsian troops. The whole area is crawling with undead creatures; this includes giant flying insect, bone devils, a very tanky undead creature
  • As the fight raged on, we saw a blue light flow in from the roots
  • Blasts of lightning struck the middle of the pools and hit everyone in the swamp around the pool
  • Commander Bradley used his medallion once, which seemed to leave him a weak state and convulsing, and then a second time that turned him to ash -- both of these caused the Moonwell to blast out.
  • As we continued to fight the stars would peak through, blue energy from the roots pushed in, suddenly the swap and water we were wading through disappeared and it looked like there were stars beneath our feet, it kept getting brighter and brighter.
  • Tide died during the battle
  • Fenster appeared at the center of the Moonwell and sheets of roaring flame appears across all the undead enemies left
  • In the end we killed the final bone devil.
  •     Fenster would continue to change the terrain   - things would bloom, sprout, wither and die, and start over... seasons flying by   - eventually it would settle into a beautiful and luscious green space       Upon returning to the Fort, a note was left for us -- From the King:   ----   With the great success, and sacrifice   - the Ffolk feel back we got off on wrong terms   - neither side never meant any ill intend   - can grow to become friends   - this has decimated many of the soldiers in the capital   - lost 450 soldiers today       For the knights that remain, have been dispatched to the western cities.

    Tel:
  • Some of you have been whisked away already to meet up with those who already forged ahead (Wibbs)
  • Those who stay behind with the capital soldiers... protect the ranged support. Help prepare siege weapons. Jericho for support. Protect the weapons. (Oisin)
  •     Our job will be to meet Fenster, work with him on his task (Sage)
  • the feat should be doable...
  •         Today will be difficult; many could fall.   Fenster and his assistant are at the memorial tree.       As we made our way out there.   - contraption of MANY horses and carriages all tied together.   - looks like it's going to carry something massive       Sora   Fenster   - hands raised to the memorial tree.   - I did not know you scarified so much... so much love in this place   - "it'll be a shame to move this tree"... but nature endures.   - Sora makes her around and gives each of us a shovel.   - we start digging out the tree   - fenster places the staff on the ground, and it starts to mold away   - Ralla -> molds earth to help       15 minutes   - fenster - feels a tremor, some spell is cast. Bend of the earth... tips forward.   - Ace and Eric catch it, and help slow it to put it on the cart       There is a place south of here. Standing stones... quarter mile north of the Moonwell   - a place of power   - will take such a thing with great ease. tap into the water of the well.   - take him some time to setup   - after that I can do the rest...   - once at the place, need to tip it up   - need to get it in place   - soldiers should have cleared the way       - fenster will enter the tree, and begin doing the ritual           We attempt to talk with the capital soldiers, but it seems they aren't the biggest fan of us (Aceso/dwarves).       We start moving toward the south:   Eric up front   Ace on one side   Aceso on one side   Ralla on tree using owl   Kasfer in the back       intense smell of burned bodies   - Caer Callidyrr soldiers....   - 100s gave their lives
  • thunder in the distance
  • fight in the distance at the Moonwell
  • heading south
  • - not the sight that perks our ear   - air itself on the trail... too faint to recognize   - as we move forward... faint sound of music       shadow caused by clouds   - we see a man... this could be one of the people (Bard) who attacked the camp in the past (during Cobh situation)   - dirty leathers; makeshift harp   - sound of rain... cloud collapse around us   - whole area is under shadow... dim light   - THUNDER and flash   - bard teleports away...   - THUNDER and flash   - leaving a person with two daggers   - this person fights at a distance, hides, attacks, and runs...       During the fight with the daggered man:
  • Aceso is banished away
  • shadow is trying to pull something from him... but powers through it, and reappears in the fight
  •
  • shadow copies of us keep appearing
  • - and attacking us.   - Twice for Ace; Twice for Ralla...       Music is becoming louder as time goes on... tree is starting to decay... die       dagger dude oddly frozen... as if he's purposely not moving.   - music is getting LOUDER       tree seems to be dying as the music plays   - wood of the tree       Erik calls out to MOVE THE CART OUT OF THE SHADOWS!   - starts charging ahead       someone casts something in the middle of road in front of the cart   - when Eric moves to the area where the cast happened:   - a giant fire wall shoots up in front of the cart   - Aceso dispels   - tree is still dying...       Ace casts heal... it does help!   We all dump heals into it.           30-35 minutes further south   - knights have an idea of where we're heading   another 10-15 minutes after turning east
  • arrive at this site of the stone circle...
  • all kinds of solders in the area around the stone circle/monument...
  • they seem prepared with ropes and otherwise, to life the tree up.
  • but the tree isn't looking nearly as good as it was before.
  • the ground is incredibly fertile
  •     We dump a LOT of healing into the tree to bring it back to its full vibrancy   - erect it into the ground   - it seems to almost connect with the ground.   - the tree starts to blossom and grows incredibly vibrant once planted and made upright.       bark flips open
  • fenster walks out
  • - needs a few minutes to set things in motion   - go and help your people... they need your help       We head toward the Moonwell from the north-east. We arrive and it's all a swamp, and we're walking through the mud and water (2 feet)       Hear a message from Tel:
  • Keep an eye out for the faerie rings... they should help you move
  • Keep an eye out for the stars
  •     The undead would fall from the shadow of the trees itself.   - materializing from almost nowhere   - cry of Horsa's Commander Bradley, who is at the center of the moonwell with about 8 other Horsian soldiers   - things become more clears as we get closer   - Bradly engaging to fell the larger beasts   - One Horsa solider: cry and scream as he does something - runs full scream into the water   - explodes       Horsa:
  • Commander Bradley in the center with 8 troops
  •     The whole area is crawling with undead creatures... including a giant flying insect like creature
  • massive battle beings between significant undead, and a few Horsian soldiers
  •     The trees begin to shift and sway, as the trees seem to come alive...?
  • more undead push in from different areas
  •     Ace would cast something, and a massive lightning bolt would hit the middle pool and zap out across the swamp... HURTING EVERYONE in the water - our enemies and us.       More fighting...       Lightning again.... damage to everyone       More Fighting....       The clouds would part like before to release lighting, but the stars shine through this time.           Larger Undead Enemies:
  • Bone Devil
  • Flying death insect
  • Bradley
  • a very tank undead creature that was pushing to the center
  •             Roots give a faint blue (likely Fenster)   - energy rushes towards the well   - Bradley notices... does something to his medallion -- begins to shake and convulse
  • Bradley... much smaller than he was... skin sunken into his face... shadow of a man he was.
  • - and a massive explosion blasts out.
  • each of these glyphs grow again
  • - lights tries to push in, but it blocked by Bradley's action...       Fighting continues with the hordes of undead       Tide dies during the fight...       Suddenly it looks like there are stars beneath our feet. We are no longer pushing through water and mud like we were before.
  • sun cuts through the darkness from above
  • as we fight it continued to get brighter and brighter
  •     Bradley looking desperate... turns to ash and the Moonwell blasts out again!
  • Sun now bright
  • Fenster appears at the center of the Moonwell
  • - raises staff in the air and sheets of roaring flame appears across all the undead enemies left   - kills giant insect   - nukes most of the little undead left
  • In the end we were fighting a single bone devil
  • - Knocked down Aceso   - Healed and brought back up       Moonwell begins to glow   - space and stars... all returns to grass   - incredibly green grass, and large trees fly up from the ground... impaling the bone devil       Belial finishes him off.
  • find Tide's body... he is missing an arm, but we are able to bring him back
  •     Fenster would continue to change the terrain   - things would bloom, sprout, wither and die, and start over... seasons flying by   - eventually it would settle into a beautiful and luscious green space       Note left for the soldiers -- From the King:   ----   With the great success, and sacrifice   - the Ffolk feel back we got off on wrong terms   - neither side never meant any ill intend   - can grow to become friends   - this has decimated many of the soldiers in the capital   - lost 450 soldiers today       For the knights that remain, have been dispatched to the western cities.
