Objective
Head to the Horsain Camp and see what aid can be offered.
Observations
The enemy are now using plants creatures that have the capabilities to using cannons.
Follow up
Follow up with the Horsain camp to see with information they had been able to get from the captured woman.
Preparation Details
Operation Details
We left towards the Horsain Camp on horseback.
We arrived at the horsian camp without issue and met with Bradley
Bradley said to go southwest to the river, collect the supplies from the lost
caravan, and return them to the camp.
He mentioned that he'll have info for Rem when we return
Orrian spotted a child in the bushes when we left.
I chased him down on foot while the party followed on horseback
He was a survivor of the vampire attack spotted earlier
His sisters might also be around somewhere, though his parents are likely dead
He claims to be from a large town called Regent's Field
I was able to heal him a bit and convince him to go to the Horsian camp
The party caught up as I sent him off
We arrived at the location of the lost caravan.
The cart was broken, as were several of the cannons.
The horses and soldiers were dead and scattered about.
Two horses were still alive, but near death
I was able to patch them up and tie them off for later use
After a bit of investigation, we were ambushed
Around 10 humanoid plant creatures appeared from the ground
Extremely durable, but slow
Susceptible to fire
Some preferred to restrain prey
Others threw thorny darts at range
One woman of concerning skill also engaged us at the same time
Initiated fight with a cast net
Threw seemingly enchanted daggers
Extremely nimble and mobile
Took a cannonball to the gut and kept running
Eventually knocked unconscious during the battle
When the plant creatures reached the cannons, we were forced to retreat.
They managed to operate the cannons with moderate efficacy
They loaded anything they could find, such as silverware and ball bearings
The two horses I had patched up allowed the other four to escape to our own horses
I realized I wouldn’t be able to clear the line of fire so I hid and noticed the
woman nearby wasn’t actually dead.
I patched her up well enough, manacled her, then patched myself up.
Riton attempted to bring two horses around through the line of fire, resulting
in the death of both horses and his own loss of consciousness
Mason charged in with her own horse at this point and administered first aid to
Riton
I waved both of them off from my hiding place and gestured to go around and pick
me up later
They were barely able to escape the second time under a barrage of enemy
cannon fire
I collected the woman and began using the trees and bushes to slowly fall back from
the cannons with prize in tow.
The rest of the party was able to meet me outside of firing range and we road for
the Horsian Camp with the prisoner
We arrived back at the horsian camp without issue
The prisoner was delivered and searched revealing the following:
Two bottles of Magic Ink, which Rem seemed to recognize when presented
Assorted writing implements and parchment
Bradley expressed disappointment we were unable to recover the supplies
He mentioned that we missed out on a cannon as a result
He provided us with the promised intel for Rem
The return trip was uneventful. We arrived back at camp and debriefed with Rem
