Operation Details

I’m writing this by the fire, my mission with Tempest, Mrs. No Name, Goli, and Tide did not go the way I expected at all. In fact if we’re talking about the objective vs the outcome, the mission was a failure. But it was not a waste.   The original objective was to return to the island I grew up on, and inform the keepers of the monastery about the goings-on of the camp, and potentially ask them for aid or to coordinate a way to help refugees or the camp.   We left with 4 horses and traveled for the capital. It took 3, maybe 4 hours to get there, and we managed to skirt around the edges of civilization and avoid conflict on the way. When we got to the capital, we found several refugees waiting to get into the city, and all but 1 gate closed tight. We went to the gate and asked to get in.   The gate keepers must have recognized us as being associated with the camp, and they assumed we were rich. Why? Because a certain Tavvok bribed the capital guards to get into the city. He paid them either 500 hold total for 500 gold each, it was unclear which. Either way, he made things difficult, because now the guards at the capital assume non-humans in the area are all together, and have absurd amounts of money. I expect this to be a persistent issue going forward.   We had to find another way in.   A man offered to guide us in for quite a bit of gold and our horses. We said no. He changed the deal to even more gold and our blood. We said, and excuse my language, fuck no.   Lord Rex offered to turn us into cats to try to sneak in, but he said we would have to leave a piece of our self behind to do it. We decided making vague deals with fey creatures was not in our best interest. So instead we found a sewer line and went into the city that way. There were 2 entrances, and we chose the one closer to the harbor, following the sounds of the ocean to safety. We used prestidigitation while still in the sewers to clean up.   With 3 warlocks, a triton, a water genasi, Tempest, and an elf, we were not the best party to go to the capital. Thank Celestian we had Goli the human and his fancy breastplate. He got us safely onto a boat.   Oh, and Rex ran away. I expect him back eventually.   We sailed for awhile, and then we heard angelic music, and two of our team members dove into the sea. Mermaids.   We got attacked by some other creatures too. We managed to kill them off with little trouble, although one of them had explosives.   Anyway, we found the island, or what was left of it shortly after. It saddens me to say it, but much of the island was sunken into the sea. A single temple remained.   It was at this temple that I found a scepter, 5 rings, and a note addressed to me. Upon receiving these items, I had a vision of an under sea kingdom and a voice asking me to come home, and I was struck with the realization of who I was; I was born a princess. The scepter is my new spell casting focus, and the rings allow people to breathe under water. I’m taking this as a sign that I must chase down the full truth of my birth and separation from my past. I hope those in charge of the army support me in this, as I could possibly bring new allies to the camp.   A storm, a shipwreck, and a horse chase later we found our way back to camp. And that is the latest tale of our adventures.   Ps: Please don’t forget to pay me for this report, as Tilson would remind you, I am quite poor.
