Operation Details

We are accompanied by Ambassador to investigate the bridge that had been barricaded by cannons. The ambassador wishes to speak with the bridge guard before we take the bridge by force. The Major tells us that a group lost 2 members in the direction of Aithelar. We had to get horses from the Horsian for 25 for deposit/150 if the horse is not returned.   We arrived at the bridge and were attacked by a group of bandits. The original solo bandit was nowhere to be seen. The 3 cannons were destroyed in the battle because the fools shot cutlery out of the cannon instead of artillery. The group of them were unorganized, and haphazard at best, which was a good thing for us. The Ambassador was the real hero of the fight while the rest of us seemed to stumble to finish the battle. He never missed a shot. A blue skinned elf named, Esmeray (moon-elf), who showed herself towards the end of battle. She is also on her way to scout out Aithelar. Her and her brother have met with a group from the camp previously, a few elves a kobold and a human.   Upon killing the group, we found orders for this group to cut off Aithelar, find sacrifices, and shoot anyone coming from the East. The was a crest embroidered of two waves crashing away from each other. While there is no signature it makes sense that the orders came from Holyhead. The council told us that a man came into town this morning saying he abandoned the bridge this morning, and he was looking for aid from Aithelar. We will have to meet this man and see if he is the one who stole the 100 gold from us the day before.   Upon entering Aithelar we see that it has been under attack in the time we have been gone. Blood stains streaked the walls and stone ground of the alleyways. Lady Amara informed us that the town was attacked by the strange lizard-fish people we fought the day before. Lady Amara informed us that a group of merchants once came to the town called The Knock Water Trading Company. This company said they would provide new textiles and such, but ran off with the gold. Vett was very good during negotiations with the council. Vett leaves us to go to Caer Callidyrr to request aid.   While we were outside with Killick. He spoke of not trusting people of the council to be able to investigate situation. They do not seem to be capable of a true investigation. We found a cave near the lower city. After some investigation Dragana found some tracks that led to and from the cave but could not tell how old the tracks were. Alexander went into the cave. We tied rope to him so we could pull him out. After a few minutes Alexander came back to the surface gasping for air. The session ends with Dragana looking at Bishop and saying, “You don’t need to breathe, do you?”   We decided to report the finding of the underwater tunnel to lady Amara. We first ran into Lord Killick and informed him of the tunnel. Dragana gave the idea of placing a few fishing nets over the tunnel for the time being as a temporary solution. Lady Amara informed us of some caves to the North of town that could have a means for the creatures to gain access to Aithelar. After taking a long rest from taking the overnight patrol as a show of faith to the people of Aithelar, and to investigate without interference. After we finished our long rest We took off into the cave where we were attacked by three large lamprey creatures after only being there for a few moments. It was my fault as I harmed their young after they attached to me. After dealing with the lamprey, we found a few crates just off from the nesting area that apparently once belonged to the Knock Water Trading Company. We made our way further into the cave, and eventually it led to more manmade tunnels. We found an old underground port, and an old smuggling ring. We found signs that one of the members of Aithelar council, Lord Highmast’s family, was once in control of these tunnels. We continued down the tunnels and found a group of five fish-lizard creatures sacrificing an Aithelarian citizen. We went directly into battle. Fruedek was the star of this battle with a well-placed shatter spell, and Bishop was amazing with his attacks against the creatures. Dragana played a meat shield for the most part. After dispatching the creatures, the group found a room that had things that could really help Aithelar. So, we brought what we could back to Aithelar, and informed Lord Killick about the storeroom. We also informed him of the potential of Lord Highmast somehow having some involvement with what was going on with the town, or at least not holding out on some supplies for the town that they desperately are in need of.   We then left Aithelar for the time being to report back to the Major. He was not happy with us being gone overnight. We reported what has transpired in Aithelar, and potential problems with Holyhead becoming worse.
