Operation Details

Background   ---------------   One of our resident merchants has fallen ill, leaving the other incapable of leaving to fetch further supplies from Caer Callidyrr. A group of soldiers will need to meet with the Knockwaters’ , contact and ensure the safe delivery of anything acquired from the Capital.     While in the city, we would also like to approach at least some of the master artisans in the city, to see if we can convince them to come join the camp:
  • Stable Master & Breeder
  • Enchanter
  • Blacksmith
  • Armorer
  • Weaponsmith
  • Leatherworker (saddles, and various other things)
  • Tailor
  • Master Carpenter (siege weapons, fort defenses, etc.)
  • Stonemason
  •     Information Gathering Prior to Mission   --------------------   Talk with Sirius:   Access to City:
  • I've got some less than legal documentation.
  • Might have to do a little looking to find other entrances if that falls through.
  • - A couple missions went to Caer Callidyrr
  • should be prepared it that it might not work
  • - heard there are some small tunnels/shit pipes/other entrances.   - look for people who look like me; they don't seem so happy about bribes If asked in black market: "not lord alliance"!!!     where would we find your contact
  • when you go through the main gates, you will find yourself in a holding area. people congregated
  • keep going straight past there on the main road
  • meet a guild town of sorts; if you go too far, you'll hit a wall
  • west (turn left into alleyways), and north.
  • find someone who knows thieves can’t; this will make things much easier
  • - (otherwise, there is always the dwarven owned tavern -- has two giant ogres outside) - this tavern is a front; run by a dwarf -- also a good way to make contact. (Western -- close to the guild area)
  • Let them know you are with -- Knockwater Trading Company under the direction of (Sirius or Orion)
  • Name: The Raven (stands out emissary - insignia with a raven
  • IF you've seen a drow -- one of those
  • Let me borrow his cart. Make sure they don't touch/search anything in the back.
  • If you leave the cart: take out the telescope in the back, and a pearl in the case.
  • How to get artisans: - guild market for the artisans - carpenters, blacksmiths, etc. - throw Orion’s (or Knockwater) name out there; he's a merchant in the camp. - but make sure you see their reaction first... he has a reputation, but it's not always a positive one. But him being here might give a little credence of money is to be made.     Tempest:   -----------   (went on a mission to the city after the one Sirius went on; could not get in the front entrance)
  • Sewer entrance (pull grate off):
  • - skirted around the southern wall east towards the docks. (northeast side of city on the wall) Raven: Could see through invisibility; very welcoming. Like information -- likely an information collector or broker, BUT don't give any info from the camp...     Based on research -- Aceso's Guide to Caer Callidyrr:   ------
  • We are here on behalf of the Knockwaters Trading Company, under the direction of Sirius.
  • We are NOT from the lord’s alliance (if asked in black market areas)
  • DO NOT MENTION WE ARE FROM FORT VEGAPATH when attempting to get entrance (likely bend this rule at specific artisans)
  • DO NOT USE MAGIC OF ANY KIND; these people hate magic
  • DO NOT GIVE/SELL ANY INFORMATION FROM THE CAMP (do not sell information)
  • Should really be a group of humans (or human-like) and dwarfs; not really friendly to other races...
  •     Mission Details   -------   Talked with CPT Tel, who gave us additional information from Sirius based on what he could prepare.   1. We will have a contact named Gideon meet us outside the city. small gnome outside the city; charismatic   2. Talked with CPT Tel about trying to recruit master artisans, and she believes it's a good idea.
  • try to find out who they are.
  • make sure they know they won't live long if they are in enemy
  •   3. We rented 4 horses (2 for cart; 2 for people -- for when cart is full)
  • We took the west, then north path to Caer Callidyrr -- this is the path Aceso always takes to the North.
  • As we continued west, we noticed something following us in the forest at 30-60 feet away It was keeping to the bushes.
  • didn't answer calls
  • Aceso asked to throw a ration to it, and someone threw a ration at it and hit it...it then stopped following.     As we turned and started heading north... we saw smoke looming up ahead.
  • we decided to take a wide berth to avoid it.
  • continue for an hour or an hour ahead
  •   The former city of bounty (where the refugee was initially rescued from)
  • the ruins that are left behind
  • see nothing valuable.
  • Go around the city (wide berth)
  • As we approach the city of Lehigh
  • wide berth again; see people in distance. City looks very inviting.
  • Aceso warns the new folks to avoid it
  • See the castle and wall in the distance of Caer Callidyrr
  • hear the voices of 100s of people
  • still 100 or 200 feet away.
  • We see to the side the guards arguing with a gnome, which we assumed was Gideon...
  • We had a conversation with guards to clear up the fact that we were here to meet him as he said
  • but it seems he has a bad reputation with the guards for selling things when he shouldn't
  • we were actively warned when we talking to the guards the second time (at the gate when Gideon had left) that they would cut-off our heads if we're seen with him again
  • if you have to do business with him in the future, do it outside the guard’s view...
  •   Gideon gave us a variety of different items to give to Sirius:   ----   3-4 dozen items:   ----   Oil of Naga: - Orion Fairies bomb owl bear incense and so on...     In the end, Gideon said that he will attempt to make us fake papers to gain entry. But gave no guarantee on their effectiveness.     Options if it fails...:
  • if you're really good swimmers -> through the bay
  • shit tunnel (same one mentioned above on the NE side of the city)
  • He then headed north-east, and we didn’t see him again.     Gideon papers were fake... and failed... had to bribe the guards 200G (100 each) to get in.     Stayed on the main going north.
  • journey 35 minutes up the King’s Path Road
  • as you push upward, houses get nicer See a few taverns; but nothing that meets the description of the tavern Sirius mentioned.     See a sign for Market Square   =====
  • in the distance hear a crack of thunder... then rain and drizzle.
  • hear a ping of the blacksmith hammer
  • - north-east
  • a toy shop
  • - tinkers
  • an alchemist
  • - as if struck by lightning.
  • herbalist
  •   Make our way to the blacksmith -- named Gavin Sr
  • Older Man
  • not all that interesting in going to the southern camp
  • business is slow
  • has a son, but useless
  • Your Son:
  • last I heard he's in Aithelar.
  • if can convince the son to come and tend the shop, he would be interested
  • Gavin; looks like me with hair: 5'10
  • - looks like typical free folk tan skin, round nose, pronounced chin, darker hair
  • if we can work out a deal with his son to mind the shop in Caer Callidyrr, then we would work out the details
  • - Any groups going to the capital should stop in, and check out his goods. See their quality and see if the shop is still slow for business. Maybe inquiry on why the shop is slow despite the war. If you buy something, make sure to mention you’re from the camp to the south.     Embra's Embers (alchemist shop)   ------------
  • master herbalist and alchemist
  • IRON to Gold
  • power your silver
  • bought a healing potion for 55g
  • She had MANY potions of healing in her shop that were available! If you’re in the town, and have money to spend, it would be a great place to do it!
  • "Perhaps come back and spend some major coin, then I will consider sending an apprentice to the camp"
  • … "Or you can cut off a piece of Sirius to get an apprentice to come down as a one time trip" – this was an odd request… like to track Sirius?
  • She knew of the Knockwaters immediately when asked, and I got the impression that their last interaction was not favorable for her…   When asking Sirius about this interaction he said:   ------   ““I think we ended our last encounter quite amicably, if I do say so myself. No cutting off of anything required and we both got what we wanted.”
  • Any groups going to the capital should stop in and check out her goods. If we spend enough money in her shop (various potions), she may send an apprentice to the shop.
  •   --- At this point, we decided we should proceed with the original mission. It was now past noon, likely around 1pm, and knew we still have a long ride back even if retrieving the goods went smoothly. ---     Collecting the shop's goods:   ---------------   Had to bribe elf to find our way to the bar
  • brought to a tavern with two ogres in the front … and she even talked to the Ogres – saying “they are going in”
  • We were quite upfront since the bar was empty, except for him, and the bar keep said you typically should: "You come in, take a seat, say "hey bar keep", get an ale, look like normal customers -- pay well for those drinks. Then proceed with business."   Afterwards, he left, and shortly after the "Raven" entered the bar from the back, and one of the ogres entered from the front.   Raven appears:
  • payment has been missed by Sirius... but the people she works for says this deal needs to happen
  • told us to leave everything on our person as a start to cover the costs... then the rest could come out of Sirius on the next payment
  • Aceso told her if we don't make it back... technically the deal falls through anyway since the camp doesn't get the goods
  • luckily Aceso had enough money to cover the 1500 missing payment.
  • We were able to get the goods w/o further issue Aceso was also able to purchase 800G worth of diamonds from her.   -Rurik is not welcome with the Raven anymore...     Raven asked that when you see Sirius, break his nose. -- Pim agreed.   Sirius MUST return the bag, WITH MISSING PAYMENT, on next visit.   Ogres’ names: (they will like if you use their names!) Rim, Stoop   Seems like city's population is now halved many places are now empty.   Would have like to also visit the stables, and also the docks, but we decided that we want to get back before it gets dark to reduce our risk -- given we were carrying the "goods".   We proceeded straight back to camp without any incident.
